RIAT 2023 wish list
Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
The Mig 21s are due out of service in May.
Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Would love to see the USAFE put a display on with F-15E and F-35 even if it's only a couple of flypasts
Believe there are no limits but the sky.

Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Not sure where they got the Spanish F18 from because their schedule didn't include RIAT. The Finnish F18 is however coming.
Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
With the Indians in ongoing talks, an IL-78 and a couple of Jaguars or Mig-29s would go down a treat, Argentines I think a KC-130J and a pair of A-4s but I think that would be too much to ask and we might get their newly painted 757 instead.
Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Indian Jaguars are in Paris the 14th of July. So who knows…

RIAT's website says a Bo737-700 is coming. First Argentine Air Force visit in over 40 years. Great news.

I think we’re all hoping for some USAF participation in tomorrows update

I’m still forever hopeful we might get some presence again this year. With the Draken displaying at Ragley Hall last week it does indicate nothing is impossible.FrankTSussex wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 1:59 pmGiven that we had the Swedish Historic Flight on static in 2022, I wonder if the experience of being there might entice them to reconsider a revised flying display that would be acceptable over here. Failing that just seeing them back again on static would be good. Missed them on departures day as I had to drive home for a family emergency on Sunday night.
Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
I don't think the Draken was ever 'gonna display' at Ragley? Its appearance for a few* back-lit high passes can hardly count as a display, but that's post-Shoreham regulations & the apparent reluctance of theFrankTSussex wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 4:31 amI’m still forever hopeful we might get some presence again this year. Swedish Air Force Historic Flight (SwAFHF) to comply with the now "justifiably" onerous qualification protocol? Would be good to see them at RIAT where at least they can perform low overshoots & gear-down passes to afterburner power for the downwind leg!

* The few passes were due to limited fuel remaining after an extended transit from Teesside & a Hold prior to the appearance IIRC. Hint:- If you wanna see the Full Monty, both the Draken & Viggen are listed for the KB. Show in September!!

Got to agree on a Indian Jag or two with an IL-78. Wold be great to see a Jag again!
Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Now that the B-52s have been confirmed that fulfils my wish list! Although I have to agree with some of the earlier posters, F-15s from USAFE would be brilliant!
With the Skytanker theme I was hoping for a KC-10 but it sounds like they may have finished before the event?

I think the KC-10s are a longshot, but maybe a variety of 135s from around the states would be amazing, just like the good old days!marku51 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 11:44 amNow that the B-52s have been confirmed that fulfils my wish list! The line ups of KC135s in the good old days were awesome ! The Bangor Maineiacs were the best , friendly crew & they let me up the ladder to sit in the cockpit as a kid . Great memory !Aircmdr wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 7:24 pmI think the KC-10s are a longshot, but maybe a variety of 135s from around the states would be amazing, just like the good old days!marku51 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 11:44 amNow that the B-52s have been confirmed that fulfils my wish list! Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
There are still 25 KC-10 in active service (according to Scramble) so the chances of them all being out of service in the next 5 weeks is slim. That's not to say that the chances of one being at Fairford are good!marku51 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 11:44 amNow that the B-52s have been confirmed that fulfils my wish list! Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
My personal opinion is the lineup is far worse than last year. And honestly, this might will be my last one. I’m getting put off just by the price and attitude of the ticket sales at the moment.

Re: RIAT 2023 wish list
Out of curiosity, what makes it worse than last year? Last year the main criticism was there was too many prop aircraft. This year it's all jets bar a few displays like the BBMF and Helicopters.
I think this is a far stronger line up than 2022 which I also enjoyed.
Price is a big issue, next year I might have to only do Saturday and Sunday. What attitude of ticket sales though? I've seen nothing different than previous years.
