Several forecasts are showing for some rain due over the weekend, temps ranging from 20c to 23c! As long as it is not as hot as last year I won't mind - but more sun than rain would be nice :)

As we know, forecasts are generally wrong these days

Interesting proposal from FRIAT to stop the carnage of 100% bag checks
You will have hopefully seen the email that came out last week regarding the 100% baggage checks we will be carrying out this year at the Customer Entry gates. To help speed this up the lanes will be marked no luggage - hand luggage – hold luggage. The lanes for hold luggage will have x-ray machines similar to those seen in airports to speed up the checking of trollies and larger bags. As you know we have the secure left luggage facility in FRIAT, so if you are coming across to the enclosure on the Thursday you may want to bring the majority of your luggage with you on that day. You can then leave any luggage that does not need to go home with you each evening in the left luggage facility over the whole weekend to help you travel light on the show days and help to speed up your entry.

Does anyone know how car passes are working for FRIAT members?

We don't need one: I checked with DBH a few months ago.
I'm guessing the idea is to give them a rough guide to how many vehicles to expect - possibly (and this takes a bit of joined up thinking to link postcodes to tickets) even to get an idea how many will be using each of the routes in.

I hope these machines pick up orange paint! I strongly suspect RIAT will be a target for these lunatics!

Will be a problem if they start glueing themselves to the roads outside the base that will cause traffic chaos. Police seem powerless to stop it, given past history seen on the news. Guess we will see how much disruption they cause at silverstone this coming weekend.

i have a feeling this years entry is going to be chaos...its all well and good asking people to "travel light" but people are predominantly selfish. they are always going to adopt the attitude "I've payed my money, sod you"

I would think everyone would have 'hand luggage' of a bottle of water, sandwich at least. As said, a recipe for chaos and no doubt arguments so it appears we will be not having a pleasant start to the day.
And goodness knows how long the queues will be !

Just wait for the chaos at the P&Vs for arrivals/departures if they're searching every bag for those days too.

What usually happens, is several people are scanned and checked, and then a whole load are let through. On 3 days last year, I got checked once.

But, with the way of the world, surely it wouldn't be terrible knowing everyone was scanned and checked? I don't know, personally, I've never had an issue being held up.
