The 50th anniversary of the F-16 has been known about for a few weeks but didn't they do a space theme a few years ago?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
Need BAe to get a move on so that a flying Tempest can appear! And I'll settle for the warbird one...................... As it's also Farnborough next year, any chance of a B21 fly-by?

As for F16's, most of the usual European operators will have moved theirs on, so the examples from "around the world" is intriguing.

NATO 75th has been added to the themes
NATO 75TH ANNIVERSARY
Since it was established in the early 1970s, the Air Tattoo has been committed to demonstrating the importance of the NATO Alliance. Therefore, it is highly appropriate that at RIAT 2024 we will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
Since its establishment in April 1949 the fundamental role of NATO has been to safeguard the freedom and security of its member countries and in today’s world, the role of NATO is more important than ever. This special occasion will be celebrated at RIAT 2024 by welcoming aircraft from NATO Nations.

I suspect that the addition of the NATO anniversary may be combined with the F16 anniversary by some NATO members - I would prefer to see some new types in service with the Europeans, e.g., Greek Rafale, Polish M346, FA50 and Saab340 AEW, Danish F35, Italian F35 and anything from Norway (why are their aircraft so rare in the UK?). I hope that participation from France will also be stronger given that the dates don't clash with Bastille Day in 2024. Can we also see a flying demo' of a USAF F35 or a full routine from the RAF F35B? And please, please, please persuade the Singapore air force to send over one (two would be better) of the M346's located in France! Can't recall anything from Singapore having attended any Air Tattoo. Got a feeling that this may be the last Air Tattoo I will attend - I'll be 70 next year and mobility problems are setting in!

Warthog,
Don't give up just yet! I'm fast approaching 72, and still manage to get out and about, ably assisted by Mrs Vulture to do the map reading.
Hang in there!

My dad did 2009 at the age of 78, unfortunately passed away -unexpectedly and in his sleep- two months before the 2010 show.
We had been FRIAT members since 1983 and the last years I did all the driving, he spent more time in the stand and we used those shuttle buses more.

Jeez!!. Just turned 81, still do Duxford shows, just had a boys week-end in Dubai [two long-haul flights in 4 days] and go dancing [Ball-room and Latin] twice, and sometimes three times a week. Age is just a number. Think young and act young!!.

Thanks for the advice lads, but as I have to rely on public transport to get anywhere, and the GP is struggling to establish why, when walking, I have to pause every 50 yards for the leg muscles to recover the omens don't look good! It took me 3 hours to walk the static at RIAT last year and, even then, I couldn't summon up the energy to visit all the bays at the western end. Did catch the internal shuttle bus back but could do with a drop off near the yellow entrance - even the walk from the red entrance terminus was a "drag". The brain is willing but the body ain't! How about a "Noddy train" for those of us less able to walk?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 General Discussion Thread
Sorry to hear about your walking problems. Warthog. I do understand that not everybody's fitness level is the same. Try to keep going, things might improve. I hope they do. Regards, John. P.S. Your point about the 'Noddy Train' is well made. However, I expect in this country, sadly the excuse will be made that there are too many walkers that could be run over by it, with resultant law suits etc., tho' it works perfectly well at Oshkosh which is well crowded.

How about hiring an electric scooter for the day? There's details on the RIAT site: https://www.airtattoo.com/the-airshow/p ... ydisabled/
