Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Anyone any experience with the bus shuttle service from the Cheltenham racetracks? Do they run regular on fixed times? Do I need to make bookings? (yes, I already purchased the tickets)
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
No matter how much you fret, you can't influence the weather - it's like the lottery, you buy your ticket in advance hoping for the best possible outcome, but you get what you get on the day. Since the year that RIAT was cancelled due to the excessive rain, a lot of lessons have been learned by the organisation and a lot of changes have been made - one of the major ones is the relocation of the red car parking back on base.andrew b wrote:just concerned as the last time we had a very wet june july was even worse .

I think this is the first year its ran from Cheltenham mate, I've caught it from Swindon the last four years and to be fair its an excellent and efficient service.womas wrote:Anyone any experience with the bus shuttle service from the Cheltenham racetracks? You don't need to make a booking, just turn up and pay on the bus, you get put on a seperate route to the cars aswell so you are'nt stuck in any of the traffic.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Okay, thanks Luke28. I got no answer from the RIAT on my questions therefore I asked it here on this board. On the website it mentions departing at 6, 7 and 8 in the morning, hope there will be plenty of busses then because I wouldn't like to wait another hour if ones full.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
The only advice i can give is get there as early as your circumstances allow. Last 3 years I've caught the eaeliest train possible from Birmingham, which in turn gets to Swindon at 8am and each year I have walked straight on the shuttle with no more than a 10 minute wait. I'd be shocked if it was just one bus leaving at 6, 7 and 8 though from Cheltenham.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Anyone know of any campsites left that still have availability, AND have an ok view of the show? I understand all the campsites with best views sold out long ago.

There are two types of people never to trust .
M Ps and weather/forecasters , do the trusted seaweed trick,
more accurate and less frustrating .

Cheers, Rog.Reds Arrows, F-35B and RAF Typhoons in Special Flypast
We are delighted to announce that visitors to the Air Tattoo will be treated to a show stopping joint flypast featuring the F-35B, two RAF Typhoons and the legendary aerobatic display team, the Red Arrows. This unique flypast will take place on all three days of the airshow.
The two fast jets in the display; F-35B and Typhoon, represent the fast jet component of the UK's future air defence capability. Combined with the world famous Red Arrows this gives visitors the opportunity to capture the perfect Air Tattoo photographic moment.
Special and unique flypasts are a hallmark of the Air Tattoo and one of reasons why we are the world's greatest military airshow! Over the past few years the Red Arrows have flown with Vulcan XH558, BA A380 and the A400M

Can I throw my WOW in as well, excellent news.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 Discussion Thread
Wonder how many smiles there were when that email dropped into their inboxes!
That is going to be one special flypast!
Hopefully we'll get another smiley day with tomorrow's update!
I think a few more big statics please! Flying seems covered except if it's rare or exotic.
(Still got my fingers crossed for Israeli jets on static and some great Asian metal!)

Apparently the Spanish have added a Tiffie for flying also. Either RIAT have been using google translate or the Spanish have taken pity on us!
