Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Have I missed something or is it just the A-320?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
What would imply it should be more than just the RAFO A320? I'm sure Gary's message shows that it is just the A320?GVLCN wrote:Have I missed something or is it just the A-320?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Fact that it's a one aircraft update, I've never known it. And to think i almost bought the friat package for me and my dad too, would be a pretty s***e Father's Day gift looking at the line up!
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Sally B and Catalina - not really items associated with the RIAT flying display are they?! But better than a TBM700....

A couple of years ago it was nearly all F18's I personally won't miss them this year!bclark86 wrote:Looks like we're unlikely to have an F-18 now. Never mind, Mig-29, Rafael, Meteor, Typhoon x 2, F-16 x 2, Gripen x 2 should all make up for that.

Im sorry but i must correct you there.mason36 wrote:It's going to be very thin on the ground and in the air this year then isn't it? Will the Russians make an appearance, perhaps? There is a very large hole to fill with regards to static displays, as I seem to remember that last year most of the ground was filled with American Aircraft. Is there enough aircraft to fill the whole day in regards to the flying display? Sorry about this, but I paid my money for an International Air Show and it doesn't seem to be panning out like that at the moment. I hope RIAT could work a little harder in securing some more noise. I've got to spend money on hotels, petrol etc as I do not live local... it all adds up. I hope they're doing their best to get some more decent aircraft in, as it all looks very weak at the moment. Sorry but just saying it as I see it.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Chris, I think you ought to be posting on the UKAR thread, the forum for the never satisfied. Not sure what the so far announced dispay line up is if it is not international, see below. There is something in there for most people and just a few adds to complete a full days worth of flying with things that will be of interest to a very wide audience. As for USAF participation last year, it was around 20 aircraft, and the static was hardly "filled" but maybe dominated by US heavies. This year was never going to top 2012 and with the late announcement of no US participation we will have to make the most of what we get. It will still be the most interesting line up in the 2013 circuit overall, if you don't like it I am sure someone on here would take your tickets.mason36 wrote:.....Sorry about this, but I paid my money for an International Air Show and it doesn't seem to be panning out like that at the moment.

And the award for comedy post of the week goes to...

Why have you already bought a ticket if the participation isn't at the level you want it to be at?mason36 wrote:It's going to be very thin on the ground and in the air this year then isn't it? It is something of an insult to RIAT to suggest they are not working hard enough for you - with nineteen countries confirmed and probably more to come, you will not get a better line up of diverse nations anywhere else in the UK and possibly not even Europe this year.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Agree with above comment completely ,lets just see if they can get some more top end aircraft from countries that can afford to come
let's not give up on riat just yet
look at the b-2 for example last year and how late its participation was confirmed

The RIAT Media event is tomorrow so hopefully there will be some more announcements during that

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
It will still be the best military air show in the world, even without US participation. To all the moaners, if you don't like it, don't bother attending and tell me where you will be able to top this line-up.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2013
Lots of people are clearly disappointed in this years line up, me included, but I don't think pointing fingers at the RIAT staff is a fair call, they are doing all they can to put on an event in very difficult circumstances, thats economic constraints and operational commitments by the worlds shrinking air forces,. and don't forget the event is a fund raiser.
So support the RIAT and lower your expectations on participation, shows of the size we saw in 70's 80's & 90's just won't happen again, I'll have a wager that it will be a one day event in the very near future.
So good job RIAT and I at least appreciate all the work you do
