Hopefully Thursday's update might bring some more fast jets to the static park, BAE have announce they are sending a Plastic Spitfire for the staitc lineup  via thier twiiter feed @BAESystemsAir

Also hoping that the abdication of the Belgian King on Sunday 21st July doesn't impact on their attendance

I have just a couple if concerns about this years RIAT.

1.will the weather hold?
2. I have a seat in the grandstand. Will I be surrounded by the sound of rapid shutter fire and multiple air band scanners? Not usually a problem but I take moving pictures with sound!

Just a bit concerned about the noise of many camera shutter taking a billion shots all at the same time!

Cheers

The scanner thing isn't a problem as most people have eyes and ears and can see/ hear what's going on around them, especially when those pesky commentators fire up the PA system.
I only ever use mine for arrivals days.

Will it be worth going to the 27 end early Wednesday for the first of the arrivals guys?......I recall most of the USAF heavy frames using early Wednesday mornings over the years, but with nothing inbound from State's side this year is it worth a 7a.m start or should I stay in my caravan bed for while longer :thumb:

Not been able to find any arrivals times on the net as yet so any pointers will be greatly recieved.....

Latest Update - 11/07/13

We are looking forward to seeing the beautiful B-25J Mitchell in our flying display, replacing the Flying Bulls' P38 Lightning which is unfortunately unserviceable, requiring an engine change that will not be ready in time for the Air Tattoo next week.

The Classic Aircraft Flight at Newquay will hopefully be sending their beautiful Gloster Meteor NF.11 for the static aircraft display. This aircraft, along with the T.7 version taking part in the flying display, will mark the 70th anniversary of the first flight of the Meteor on March 5th, 1943.

I was looking forward to the P-38, but a Mitchell as a replacement isn't too bad !

In all honesty there are just as many cancellations as they're are participants now, looks like they cancelled all the military stars and invited every flying club in the uk. RIAT 2013 officially the worst one to date

Bet you're still going to go though, so you have something to complain about when you get back? ;)

"just get whammed" ..... best comment ever!!

Honestly I will be there no matter the weather, if the rain is there it just changes the photographs. Look at some of the moody B2's from last year!! :ninja:

BAe have posted the latest 'Spot the aircraft' as part of the line-up they are sending to RIAT and as far as I can tell it's a nose wheel from a Tonka. I wonder which they will send considering they retired ZA402 yesterday? Any ideas?

Steven.

The weather will indeed be the reason for going this year, along with 5 gr-4's and the vulcan of course just a shame about the cancellations
