So how would you like them to commemorate that then?
Perhaps a few F/A-18F in retro schemes and the Maverick jet? Maybe the blue angels and a few Navy F-35Bs and Cs (I imagine there's not much they can do with F35 schemes!?!). Overly ambitious and rather impractical, I know! :S

BoB 80th probably makes the most sense from that posted above, so far!

I can see how that could celebrate the movie itself, bar the F-35B as the US Navy doesn't have them, it doesn't celebrate the F-14 at all and I really can't see how it could be done, nice thought though, as it's one of my favourite aircraft and one that I'd love to see again, but I'm not likely to be off to Iran in any hurry during the current political climate! ;)

BoB s 80th Anniversary will just give RIAT the excuse to fill Fairford up with Warbirds , which will then steal the show from Duxford
Better to leave it to Duxford and let RIAT come up with a different theme , I like the never been before theme idea, has a huge potential and would go down well with a lot of happy people.

It's a good point and probably not really something recreatable in order to give it a worthwhile theme. I suppose Britain's (Europe's?) largest airshow is unlikely to commemorate a single non-UK aircraft for the entire show's theme?

Perhaps commemorating the end of World War 2 (75 years) and the mainstream introduction of jet aircraft into air forces? (obviously the Me262 and Meteor were introduced in 1944, but the Shooting Star and Vampire were 1945).

So to conclude, I have no idea and hopefully the theme will attract some lovely rare aircraft and if not, hopefully the show itself will attract some lovely rare aircraft

The only time IAT did a great BoB show was Boscombe in 1990 but yes leave that type of show to Duxford.

An "Unknown" theme - Nobody knows what will turn, DBH go into hiding and post no updates. What you see is what you get, plus, there'll be surprises on all 3 days!!

With the added excitement of on the day surprise B-2 flypasts, having a couple of 'Mystery Box' headliners that are only revealed when they arrive on the Wednesday would be fantastic. 90% revealed, but a flying and a static addition kept in the dark. Doubt that'd hamper sales too much at all.

Well up for that that's how it should be! Unfortunately, no matter how much they want it kept secret, these days of wall to wall social media means that someone will leak out the info on one platform or another just because they can.

Yes this is true - which is why they should drop the whole "FRIAT exclusive" BS - imo.

Why does there have to be a theme anyway? It's an air show at the end of the day (albeit an mega one).

I see a lot of 50 year anniversaries.
Could they combine those into one?
we have (as far as I read) 50 years of:
- F-14 tomcat
- Boeing 747
- Westland Puma first flight
- C-5M galaxy entering production
- G.222

How about a special flypast of:
- 3 Boeing 747s in formation
- A C-5M being trailed by 4 F-14s from Iran (maybe we can add some newer fighters to see the difference?)
- Several Pumas
- Maybe some kind of older Italian aircraft
- BBMF with their Lancaster, 2 spitfires and 2 hurricanes (for the 80 years anniversary of BoB)

How does that sound? :halo:
I would be amazed if they were to get this to fly, but I woulf be really happy to see it

There doesn't as far as I'm concerned, however RIAT traditionally have a couple of themes every year.
