It's early February, in the middle of a pandemic, give them a chance!

That’s true ,good point to be fair perhaps my reaction was a bit to quick to of the deck  ,I take it back ,should have pre approved the flight plan  ,fingers crossed here it will still happen ,I fully back what dbh do for us all, they have my full support-think if in a few weeks or so still no updates then will be cause for concern around mid Feb /early March
But this is the great thing about a discussion thread that we can talk about it ,even if no updates have happend in a while and have a say :) hope iv made sense and apologies if iv got a bit muddled up,trying to remain as positive as possible here :)
I’m hopeful of a B-2 flypast or static display, pretty please dbh :halo: :)

The longer you take giving in to disappointment the worse it will be when you do :P

But it feels 'oh so good' to dream. As that's all we can do.

I think that it's only a matter of days until DBH give us the inevitable news that RIAT 2021 has been cancelled.

I'm more concerned as to why the finance director left and who is in charge of the purse strings. :O

Seeing as Yeovilton Air Day has been canned, it won't be long for RIAT.

The Yeovilton cancellation text says:

"Due to the ongoing uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic and current government policy on large outdoor gatherings, the risks associated with hosting a large-scale international event in July is too significant for all parties involved."

RIAT will have to be very bold to suggest it believes it knows better and is willing to host a 'a large-scale international event in July'.

Come on chaps

10 pages discussion on a event that will not take place

The very very earliest event I am thinking about might be Belgium in Sept or
Ocean Sky in Oct

Would be a massive risk financially to think of putting on a show.
The confidence of buying advanced tickets would be the 1st red light RIAT could fail on.

Then a weak flying display if they did pull a show off would again impact sales.

Doubt you will get much support from the civil displays to boost any display,
Be very few if any that will pay out for display insurance and cost of certification display hrs etc for just 1 or 2 displays in a season. Just not financially viable.

Think the country will be in a tier ratings system anyway so that will have a massive inpact.

Further more do the locals of that area want the risk of a big outbreak in the area after.

Its taken 2 months to jab the over 80s now we have to do that again for the 2nd jab, going to be around sept at best to get down to the 50 year old band.
Think you must be very delusional to think a show like RIAT will take place this year.

Guess last year it was March they announced the cancellation so could be then this year.

This time last year we was just into this covid, we are now in a 2nd wave that is twice as bad if not more.

Think you are spot on, Plus they are saying people down to 18 will be offered the jab so any 20 odd's on here won't have 2 jabs by then, Also would part of the conditions of entry be that you have to show your vaccination card showing you have had both jabs, again wont be many people who could.

Tim Spector, another epidemiologist, has advocated the return to social gatherings, in small groups of six, from next month. However, he has said that he believes large gatherings, ie, large weddings and sporting events, won't happen, without some form of social distancing measures, for a few years? I pose a question mark here because, the last point sounds bleak, very bleak, but there is a qualifying point, unfortunately the emphasis on his message is an the negative, but the last part about social distancing measures.... means what? I don't know. Is he saying large outdoor events can return this year, as he see it, so long as we turn up in masks with an extra rucksack full of Hand Sanitizer?

LF? :S

RIAT just need to read what Yeovilton have said as to the reason why they have cancelled and follow suit. RIAT appear to be being very naive, I just hope nobody is foolish enough to buy a ticket at the moment.

I wonder how significant the finance director leaving a few weeks ago is.

Can I ask what the obsession is with the finance director leaving?

I think most people only want to know what is going on with this years show and when it inevitably does get cancelled what they plan to do with those people who have already rolled their tickets over from last year and ones who have bought for this year.
