RIAT '22 Tickets
Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
I remember talking to a Thunderbirds pilot at Vegas and asking why they don't do a 3/4/5 ship landing as some others do.
Too dangerous he replied.

I'm being facetious ...
On a serious note though.... I know an airshow is high performance manoeuvres in a specific area... But say if you were to go to Volkel or one of the dutch LFA's...would you be treated to the same sort of thing (obviously not a certainty of what days)....
Not a show basher, I'll more than likely be there, but it was a bit of a brainfart thought this morning, could you catch aircraft doing similar away from an airshow environment?
edit: on a regular basis I probably should specify
Do they have LFAs in the Netherlands? I know Belgium have a LFA in the Ardennes region

Well, the thunderbirds pre season schedule ( just released), indicates NO uk shows for 2022. the weekend of the air tattoo is booked
same story for blue angels, so unsure where the rumour came from. assuming what i have read is accurate of course

Unfortunately I tend to agree, realistically we don't seem to be in better position than last year.
But we must keep optimistic !

Realistically we are in a worse position than this time last year? We have no positive information that the launched 'vaccination salvation' of late 2020 is effective in any measure against Omicron which doubles its transmission cases currently every 60 hours!
Personally I wouldn't book RIAT22 accommodation without a free cancellation policy! Even allowing for the case that virtually NO accommodation is available anyway?
I think the current data may suggest at least a 60/40 chance of a non-event at this stage, with predictive assessments supporting an increase of odds against it happening?
When your Glass has been smashed, any drop of liquid you can salvage helps? Fingers-crossed & Stay Lucky guys!)

Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
I for one am being optimistic about next year. Yes I have booked tickets, they were carried over from the last two as I gave my support where it was needed.
I have also rolled over and booked my Camping pitch as local businesses also need our help.
If I want to to be pessimistic I keep it to myself as there is too much around in the Media and Press than to add to it on here.
Fingers and toes crossed for lots of noise and fast jets in July.

Optimism, pessemism and realism can often exist in close proximity.

Looks like Omicron might screw us again.

Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
I do think we are in a better place even though infections are still bad.
Back when RIAT was cancelled earlier this year, the vaccine rollout was still in its infancy. A lot may not have even been double jabbed by the time RIAT came around. Now, by the time 2022 RIAT comes around the vast majority will be boosted with a 3rd dose. This was semi expected, a winter surge. The vaccine and booster seems to be stopping serious effects now, where as back then we would not have been as protected.
Not saying the Vaccine will stop you 100% getting bad symptoms but for the vast majority it seems to be mild. Deaths will, sadly still happen.
I think that gives RIAT its best chance of happening since the last one took place in 2019.

yep, realistically, if it cant happen in 2022 then when can it..its looking like we will have to live with a surge every winter so lets just get on with life best we can. there's never going to be a "perfect" time again imo

Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
Email from RIAT today. Announcements hopefully starting February.
Happy New Year from the Air Tattoo!
It's been another strange and challenging year but thank you for your ongoing support of the Air Tattoo and our Charity, The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
Plans are well under way for the 2022 Air Tattoo taking place from 15-17 July. We hope to start aircraft announcements in February and all the signs are for good participation from Air Arms around the world.
Ticket sales are well ahead of previous years, thanks to your rollovers and good sales for 2022. Many Saturday enclosures have already sold out and we anticipate an early sell out of Saturday admission tickets. Tickets can be bought HERE.
Finally, if you are getting bored of the same old Christmas and New Year TV then why not have a look at the Virtual Air Tattoo from 2020 and 2021. It'll get you in the mood for the real Air Tattoo in the summer!
Watch the Virtual Air Tattoo HERE

Jason,
I got the same e-mail- hopefully 2022 will bring some normality back to our lives, and we can start to enjoy our hobby a tad more- I've booked my RIAT tickets and finger crossed we will see a show in some form or another.
Stay safe and Happy New Year
Bob

Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
Has it ever been said why there are no shuttle buses to Arrivals or at least Monay departures on ticket options? I would love to attend but with no shuttle bus it makes it too difficult.
I am guessing not enough demand for it?

Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
From memory (which could be failing!) there used to be shuttle buses from Swindon.

Re: RIAT '22 Tickets
A lot of people get taxis from Swindon as I get one to my campsite from Swindon usually about 30--40 pounds but some charge ridiculous prices, If you get a few people going it breaks down the cost of the taxi fare, Not sure about shuttle bus as never had to get one as I do camping for whole week so am right beside the base.jasonT1981 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 5:26 pmHas it ever been said why there are no shuttle buses to Arrivals or at least Monay departures on ticket options?
