Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
Head of RIAT Air Ops said this over on UKAR this evening.
As of today, we are not expecting any USAF Air Combat Command demonstration teams to perform in the RIAT 2022 flying display.
He also said the flying display is adding up to over 8hrs.

I'm guessing there has been moaning that Sanicole have got the USAF F-35 display on social media etc.
Nice update, more good support from the Canadians

Interesting. Someone replied to the F-35 demo team on Instagram under a post of their updated 2022 schedule and asked if they’re doing RIAT 2022. To which they replied “we’re right there with yah”. Although it was with a fingers crossed emoji and posted approx 6 weeks ago.Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 10:14 pmHead of RIAT Air Ops said this over on UKAR this evening.

He might have been replying as an enthusiast rather than as a display pilot

Quite a good amount of American stuff turning up if you look back. Still at least 3 updates to go.
Also, it isn't the "main theme" of the show, either.

Yeah possibly. But we can hope!
After all the F-35 demo is the easiest for the Americans to bring over; jet from Lakenheath and then just fly the crew in similar to the viper demo in 2019.
Although as good as it would be to see it, we’ll have F-35’s coming out of our ears for years to come.

If Lakenheath would want to loan a jet...Knowing how well the Spang viper was flown in 2019 I'm not so sure
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
There seems to be a thing in the USAF with combat coded and non combat coded jets. It seems to apply to F-22A and F-35A (perhaps other types too). The combat coded jets appear to be the latest mod/software standards, and are as good as they get. The non combat coded ones are used for training and adverseory tasks, and are generally not up to latest specs. I wonder what class of jet is used for the demo teams? It wouldn't surprise me to find that the demo teams use non combat coded jets, and if that's true then I doubt LN has any of those.

I think riat is looking a really good show this year lots of variety of aircraft from lots if countries would it Really be a loss if the Americans didn't display anything. Personally I'm just happy riat is going ahead

I have to agree with you redhead the show is shaping up very nicely indeed and still a few more updates to come, I just cannot wait to get back to an airshow and see and hear some aircraft all we need now is the weather to be like it was in 2018 glorious sunshine all week

I think there will be more from the USAF as on the Virtual Air Tattoo last year they said they were hoping to have an old bomber (B-17 Sally B confirmed) alongside some modern bombers so hopefully the B-52 and B-1 will be confirmed, Would be great if they both did along with a B-2 now that is wishful thinking

It was flown very well from a spectator point of viewJames Cutting wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 3:25 pmIf Lakenheath would want to loan a jet...Knowing how well the Spang viper was flown in 2019 I'm not so sure
But yeah, fair point.
Also saw on Twitter that one of the RIAT ATC had posted about the longest day and mentioned there are some other things up their sleeve. Hopefully some nice flypasts, B-2 maybe…

Hi guys, as it stands are we expected to see more static aircraft this year than the last air tattoo ? Looking to be busy with arrivals.
Flying prevails whenever a man and his airplane are put to a test of maximum performance.
