I’m trying to stay optimistic with each update. Whilst the Omani C295 is a nice touch, I still feel the flying display is missing a big crowd pulling act like the Spanish Harriers in 2019…

In 2019 there were three big flying acts: the Spanish harriers, the Romanian Mig 21 and the Ukrainian SU27. Any one of those was a big pulling act. Nothing close to that in exotic fast jet department.

It's turning into a Prop fest with more emphasis on the static line up.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
I agree, although nothing wrong with this but the last 4 or 5 updates have been bland. We need proper flying acts like how RIAT used to be.csnewton2701 wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 11:32 amIt's turning into a Prop fest with more emphasis on the static line up.
Makes me think whether the £10 discount was really due to low ticket sales given the confirmation so far
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
Yes I remember, 2018 was even better with so many confirmations. I think unless there's some changes over the next few weeks, it might put RIATs reputation in jeopardy for next year.red leader wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 11:11 amIn 2019 there were three big flying acts: the Spanish harriers, the Romanian Mig 21 and the Ukrainian SU27. There's more whining in this thread than a pair of Rolls Royce Darts spooling up! How about being thankful that you will have a show to go to at all and accept that it may well not be as big as you're used to. There's a lot going on militarily at the moment and, believe it or not, Covid is still a thing!
So instead of moaning like little kids who don't think it's fair, how about you praise and encourage those that are putting this on for your enjoyment and maybe, just maybe, they'll bother to do it all again next year.
Of course, if you whingers think you can do better.......off you go, I'm sure the organisers would welcome your valuable input!

You do realise that people are allowed to be disappointed whilst still being grateful they can attend an air show?bizfreeq wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 1:22 pmThere's more whining in this thread than a pair of Rolls Royce Darts spooling up! The irony of someone whining about perceived whining…
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
I think people need a realty check. It's the first show since the start of the pandemic. Big parts of the globe still under restrictions. Unable or unwilling to send stuff. Also a conflict on Europes doorstep. The show has already past my expectations
Posh are going to Wembley (albeit for a tin cup)
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
I wasn't being whiny about anything, but the whiny ones were definitely whining about it rather than airing disappointment, there is a big difference. You do realise that people are allowed to be disappointed whilst still being grateful they can attend an air show?

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
This thread is still nowhere near the levels of 'whining' that the 2019 thread managed to achieve. Now its looked back on fondly.
Edit... The show, not the thread.

Agree with Gary and Mark - I am more than happy with what we have so far, I for one look forward to the QRA demo and SAR Hinds.
I just got slightly carried away hoping the French sentence was one of their jet demos but there's still time
Everyone in their own way makes RIAT how they want to make it. Meet some mates, have a pint at 10am, sit back chill out. Get your photos, buy some merch, chat bol*ocks no need to get stressed about their reputation.
Yes it isn't what it was in 2019...But what it was in 2019, was not what it was in 1970's...Things tend to change.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
For those disappointed with the French update, keep in mind Bastile day is the day before RIAT, so a lot of the French displays will be allocated to domestic events and shows that week/weekend for flypasts/displays etc.
It's a new display, a RIAT and UK debut. Looking forward to it. Still plenty more to come.

I'm not whining or disappointed. It beats my local Airshows of Southport and Blackpool. I'm looking forward to it.

There’s plenty of time yet. Loads of air arms showing as ‘ongoing’ and a lot of them have exotic jets (Polish Mig-29, India, Qatar or Egypt with Rafale’s) I agree the static line up is great with some unique aircraft, just some of the latest updates seem a bit lacklustre in terms of flying displays.

I’m really pleased with Gripen’s both Swedish and the Hungarian, not seen the Hungarian one I don’t think at RIAT for a while if at all so looking forward to seeing those display, something different
For me it’s personally one of the best displays of the show from the Swedish Gripen it’s very slick/smart routine, one I always look forward to seeing

I wouldn’t get your hopes up for the Hungarian Gripen, they’ve recently cancelled Cosford citing operational reasons.
The Czech Gripen display in 2019 was very good though.
