Aircraft classification that is appearing at riat

Do you class these 2 aircraft that are appearing at riat, the c-27 as a heavy and the v-22 as a helicopter?

C-27 seems to be “medium” to me. Heavy would be C-17/C-5/IL-76 (of which the latter won’t be at RIAT unfortunately, unless they get the IL-76’s at Deblin flying.
And the V-22 is a class of its own, Tiltrotor. Not a helo, not a plane.

So at what point does a medium aircraft become a heavy, sorry for my naivety, if possible please name aircraft types, i believe that the C-130 is a heavy is there any aircraft smaller that is classed as a heavy?

Nope, C-130 is medium too.

As I answered on UKAR, I base my opinion off the ICAO wake turbulence categories: https://skybrary.aero/articles/icao-wak ... e-category

The answer on PPRUNE was along the lines of "If you cannot get everything you want in it, then it's a medium. If you can, then its a heavy". :P :halo:

As per google:
A “heavy” aircraft is one whose takeoff weight is more than 300,000 pounds, or 136 tonnes. This designation is critical enough that the FAA requires all such aircraft to announce the fact with their call sign
