Kuwait Typhoon identity

Post by POL » Sun Jul 17, 2022 12:33 pm

Some issues with this with lots of assumptions knocking about from what I can tell!

We know the serial worn is CSX55274.

Has anyone physically read the construction number off the airframe in some way? It's been posted as KT006 but is this a fact or an assumption?

Scramble says KT006 is MM55248 but looking at that block of c/ns that appears to be an assumption, with some serials duplicated with T-346s for Poland.

Of course, none are CSX5527x! Scramble has CSX55247 as c/n KT005 but as per the above is this an assumption?

Another question therefore is is CSX55274 correct or is it really CSX55247? I'd suggest scramble is wrong but the first two in the block were CSX55243 and CSX55244, this is presumably where Scramble got/assume the rest of the sequence.

Has anyone seen the serial under the tape? It has been reported as 906 but is this a fact or just based on the assumption it's KT006?

I may be overcomplicating things, but I'd like to establish facts rather than have assumptions be considered fact :)

Not being presumptuous here the KAF Eurofighter Typhoon CSX55274 c/n KT006 according to a database CSX55274 doesn't tally up but with a check other ID shows CXS55248 same aircraft different reg code so which is correct the one it's carrying at the Tattoo or the database not going to cause any arguments with this just curious
PCR1965,

I've seen the following reported so far;

KT001- CSX55243, to MT55243, ferried from Caselle to Al Salem AB Dec 2021
KT002 - CSX55244, to MT55244, ferried from Caselle to Al Salem AB Dec 2021
KT003 - CSX55269. Currently at Turin-Caselle.
KT004 - CSX55246. Currently at Turin-Caselle.
KT005 - CSX55273. Currently at Turin-Caselle. Reported to be allocated Kuwaiti serial 905 (but whether that means the others become 901-904 in order remains to be seen!)
KT006 - CSX55274, which is the one currently at Fairford. As far as I am aware it flew in from Caselle too? Where did you see reference to CSX55248, I can't find mention of that serial so far? As you can see from the rest of the list, the "CSX" serials don't run in any real kind of order!

The reference to CSX55248 comes from, I believe, the Scramble Military database. If you select the Kuwait AF and then insert type Typhoon the following comes up:-

Typhoon T KT001 Leonardo On order Nov 2018 Dec 2021 CSX55243
... Typhoon T KT002 Leonardo On order Apr 2021 Dec 2021 CSX55244
... Typhoon T KT003 Leonardo On order Apr 2021 Apr 2021 CSX55245
... Typhoon T KT004 Leonardo On order Apr 2021 Apr 2021 CSX55246
... Typhoon T KT005 Leonardo On order CSX55247
... Typhoon T KT006 Leonardo On order CSX55248

Scramble database is great. But not right all the times. Sometimes there are (what looks like) assumptions/logic in sequence.

And the last two have no dates, so are not reported seen by anyone according to Scramble.

What I know. Kuwait orded 6 duals this was one of them. But which one. And...was it a Kuwaiti one or just an Eurofighter with a Italian test registration....

OK. So I keep track of mainly Italian sites and this is what the current situation is:
...... EF2000T KT001 Leonardo Torino Nov21 CSX55243,MT55243 dd 10Dec21
...... EF2000T KT002 Leonardo Torino Nov21 CSX55244,MT55244 dd 10Dec21
...... EF2000T KT003 Leonardo Torino Mar22 CSX55269,MT55269 dd 29Mar22
KAF904 EF2000T KT004 Leonardo Torino Mar22 CSX55270,MT55270 dd 29Mar22
KAF905? EF2000T KT005 Leonardo Torino Jul22 CSX55273
...... EF2000T KT006 Leonardo Torino Jun22 CSX55274
...... EF2000 K.001? Leonardo Torino Jul22 CSX7499

Serial tie-up to c/n is unknown. Recently photo was shown on twitter with a twinseater bearing serial KAF904. Could be KT004
Some report the serial 905 for the fifth dual. This one is currently at Manching for trials. Recently also the first single seater was seen at Torino.

I asked a friend of mine who is on the engineering team at RIAT to check the plate on the Kuwait Typhoon for me. He messaged me this morning confirming the C/N as KT0006 and that is 3 Zero's on the plate.

Neil
