2022 DVD
I heard that Planes TV are not doing a DVD this year. Can anyone confirm this? If true does anyone know if any other company is doing it?

Re: 2022 DVD
That is correct, I spoke to PlanesTV about this and apparently not many customers purchased the DVD/Blu-ray so they have decided to stop doing it. I imagine they will continue in the streaming area & subscription. A shame as I always purchased it.
Re: 2022 DVD
Its a great shame, i purchased every year as well. I dont understand why Planes TV did not announce that there was not going to be a DVD/blu-ray.

That is a shame. I always buy it. I like to have a physical product. I hope that someone else is doing it?

What about the other airshows. Have they stopped doing them as well?

Re: 2022 DVD
Yeah, they have stopped DVDs completely it seems. I was told at Duxford last year they were focusing on streaming from now on as the cost to make the DVDs, print covers/disks etc was no longer viable.
A shame as I love having a DVD I can watch any time. Now I have to subscribe to a service, which I won't be able to see if my subscription stops.

I find it incredible that one of the world's largest airshows can't sell enough DVDs to make it viable. I would have thought someone else could have a try.

If George Bacon announcing every 30 seconds over the PA system that there was a DVD for sale didn't bring in enough sales then nothing will!

I guess the vast majority of people now only do streaming. I like to have a hard copy, and I know others that agree with me. Maybe the DVDs days are over?

Basic supply and demand - no demand, no supply. I am fairly sure they have done their market research.

DVD disks and players look to be on the way out. Much like music CDs and players.red leader wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 12:34 pmI guess the vast majority of people now only do streaming. I like to have a hard copy, and I know others that agree with me. Maybe the DVDs days are over?
Re: 2022 DVD
It is reported that 22.5% of the UKs population of 66million+ are over the age of 60. Most of those would have some CDs & DVDs.
There must be a market for reconditioned players and therefore for new material.
At a fiver a time, I've got a hoard of aircraft DVDs in large drawer

I should clarify my post with “currently worth a fiver each if I could sell them in today’s market”. The actual outlay was significantly greater.

That is a great shame. I have collection of RIAT VHS and DVDs that stretch back continuously back to the early 1990`s with the exception of the ones cancelled by COVID. Was looking forward to my annual treat of watching RIAT over christmas.
Re: 2022 DVD
exactly mate..its a tradition in my house, one of the kids always gets me the Riat DVD for Xma's.FrankTSussex wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 1:51 pmThat is a great shame. Re: 2022 DVD
Same for me as well. I've always purchased the collectors edition Blu-Ray and watch it over Christmas. I don't want yet another subscription service to faff around with.

I totally agree. I like the hard copy. It feels like a great loss to me.
