Yeah thats what i thought ! but was,nt allowed into the airfield this morning till 7.00 am,and then had to sit for half an hour at the ticket/pay booths till 7.30am cos the events managment company did,nt want to start while 8.00am.Fortunatly the local constabulary convinced them to let us through at 7.30 cos the traffic was backing up on the A15.
Never mind eh ! it was a cracking shoe though.

My first Waddo, its was cracking, personally enjoyed it more then Fairford and Farnborough last year

as i posted before, i was thier for 5.15am, and was fourth in the queue , then some people arriving an hour later tried to push in front of the guys queing down the A15
didn't go down well, the Dutch guys who were first in line made it quiet clear they better move :@ :@

they changed the gate opening times 4 times within an hour, the police weren't impresssed with the cowboys who were handling( that's a joke) the entry to the base
hope its better for you guys going today

Overall a very good day that had something for everyone. However, getting into the site was noticeably slower this year. Guess this was due to the fact that a private company was involved and you had to queue to pay a person sat in a booth rather than having several people stood outside in each queue taking peoples money. It was also completely pointless having someone remove the stubbs from your tickets 10 or 20 metres beyond the booths. I don't think there was any way of getting in without going through booth and therefore paying.

did anyone else notice that yet again some of the static was parked up without any thought! there was all that room up near the An26 yet the Italian F-16s were cramed into a small area with barriers placed really close to them :grr:
apart from that thought it was a great show! :thumb:

Yes i agree with Youth and did notice the amount of space down buy the Czech AN 26 they could of placed them a bit better and put the F 16'S down there and moved the Polish Bryza
but i really enjoyed the show especially the static there were a few nice gems i.e. the RC 135 E 3 and the Italian F16'S i believe the only airshow in this country to have them in
the static even Fairford hasn't got the RC and the yank Dish which were big bonus. Also for me the Vulcan first time ever seeing it fly and i just turn to my dad and he said my face was a picture it was amazing absolutely amazing so there are might highlights from a truly good show and nice weather aswell lol  :thumb:

kind regards Mirage 2000 :D :thumb:

Had a great time at the show. A massive well done to the the organising team and the service personal etc. One of the best Waddington Airshows i have been too.

A couple of little gripes. The F3 was in an awful place :'( seeing as its the last waddington airshow it will be at.The E-3D (ZH105) parked on alpha dispersal :O what a sorry state the aircraft was in. Also this is more about the crews rather than the airshow. Where were some of the RAF crews for most of the day? The planes were unmanned, most of the foreign crews were there chatting to people and selling squadron memorabilia etc from 9am, yet the RAF boys didnt seem to be about until lunch time.

But they are very small grumbles. Again a massive well done to the the organising team and the service personal. Can't wait departures tomorrow :thumb: and RAF Waddington International Airshow 2011

Agreed. I thought the static display was rather sparse and oddly positioned. There were too many swag stalls too, I'm surprised people ever found the display hangars.

Excellent flying display though. Shame about some of the non-flyers though.

We got there around 8am Sunday, straight in off the A607, paid, parked up etc in around 10 minutes. At the end got in the car, in the queue and out through crash gate 5 in maybe 15 minutes which, compared to previous years, seemed a miracle so thanks to the people who made that happen!.

Highlights for me were those two lovely Hunters flying together, the Hawk and the F-16 display. The Battle of Britain display was a nice feature too, we were standing next to the WW2 British AA unit re-enactors when that started and they got their Klaxon going and started to train their three Bofors on to the Bf109, then they started firing blanks at it which was good fun.

On the static front, the Apache and the Gripen running its engine up right at the end of the show.

Usual mash up on the shopping front, from art gallery to model shops to a guy selling 'Parfum' (Milan-Paris-Waddington). No proper radio/scanner stall there as far as I could see.

Lastly, as we wandered around the show we came across an RAF Intelligence tent outside of which, on her own, was a rather pretty officer or NCO in desert combats. Her stand didn't have the most appealing of displays, just a couple of photo boards, no guns, cluster bombs or give-away mouse mats and they had no visitors while the other stands had plenty. She looked lonely and gave me an inviting 'please stop and talk to me' smile as we passed by. Imagery analysis suddenly became the most fascinating subject in the world :) Being the chivalrous sort anyway I badly wanted to stop and talk to her and made vague mumbling noises to my mate about how interesting one of their photos was. His response was 'Nah, c'mon Andy, let's go up nearer the flightline'. I'm thinking, you're choosing a flying display over chatting to a pretty gal???!! Not wanting to appear bleeding obvious by physically dragging him back, regretfully I smiled back and walked past. Waaaaahhhhh! I managed to get back to the tent a while later but she must have gone walkabouts. Oh well, passing ships, revolving doors, such is life :(

I thought it was a very good show. The only moan from me was the Static. But they did have some nice things - Italian F16s, RC135, C130j (Ramstein Aircraft). I thought the Flying display was top notch with something for everyone!! The Czech Cripen was out of this world!! :thumb: :thumb: I was very keen on the Ar107 also! :thumb: Overall a very very good show! I think Waddo deserve a massive pat on the back!!! Bring on 2011!!

Great show but i thouht that the UAV part was pointless, they should of got the gripen and Tyhoon to do a flypast :) . Also the RAF 90th Flypast on Saturday never really happend they all turned up at Differant time not the 30 second intervals they said in the program. But other than that the flying display was fare better than previous years!

Well done wadoo

Next year please try and get the Rafale,Gripen, F-18 and F-16 and then you have already got a show and a half :P

It's a family show and also works hard to promote aviation in general so I reckon you'll find that the historics and GA stuff are very popular with the vast majority of visitors.

.. i notice in your thread you couldn't find Airsupply, well back in April when Airwaves 2010 was published i had a run to the Airsupply shop at Yeadon, but found it closed and empty and sign "to let"...did hear Ken Cothliff (the owner and Elvington airshow organiser)had not been well plus other personal family matters.
Ken has closed the shop :'( As you say he was Ill and did have family matters. I was speaking to him a few months ago at the shop. Im not sure what he is up to now but I hope he is well!! Always did enjoy chatting to him in the shop and at Airshows! :thumb: Very very nice guy with loads of knowledge! :thumb: :thumb:

Just spotted this thread. I've been miles away. Enjoyed the show. Good static, only gripes were same as Gary mentioned (where the F3 was parked), and the same goes for the Qinetiq Alphajet :( .

On the plus side, Italian F-16's, RC-135, USAF E-3, even the 617 Sqn marked GR.4 were great to see. Typhoon/Spitfire combo, Vulcan, F-16 and Gripen were superb.

Big well done to everyone involved. Roll on next years show.

Cheers,
CR.
