If something of interest was coming I would have thought you would do level best to publicise to hilt?
Re: RAF Waddington International Air Show 2013
Departures day too? What happens if, yet again, the fail to open the gates at the advertised time, leaving everyone stuck on the road outside!?The W.A.V.E wrote:Please note that under no circumstances can anyone park outside the base waiting for the gates to open on any day.
You will be given an, 'on the spot', fine of £70, no questions asked.
This is the word coming from the enforcement officers who will be patrolling outside the base and they state they will enforce the rules strongly.
So no parking on double yellow lines and no parking on the grass verges beyond the double yellow lines.
They mean business!!!
Or maybe that was their plan all along?

any guesses on what the large static? might be guysThe W.A.V.E wrote:Can only publicise once confirmed, so they are keeping it to themselves at present.
A few weeks ago they did say they have a large static to announce, but dont know of anything as of yet.
I am assured after meeting the airshow team today, the gates shall be open at 8am and if possible before, but 8 am is the designated time of which they wish to comply with.
Only two years ago were the gates late in opening and that was due to a health and safety issue and totally out of the airshow teams control. They are very much on top of this issue this year.
The enforcement is for all 5 days, to include departures.

There has been rumours and I say only rumours the first RC-135 Airseeker might turn up for a visit... Haven't seen info posted anywhere to say it's flown yet

Re: RAF Waddington International Air Show 2013
On that basis, I will have to ensure SWMBO packs me some extra jockeys, just in case
Just in case, you understand
Looks like a great show anyways, considering everything

So its ok to be on the roadside on double yellow lines stationary for half an hour to an hour with the gates open, but if the gates are closed then you get a fine
When is a queue of traffic not a queue of traffic, do the organizers and police think theres a big carpark 10 miles away where all cars are waiting until the gates open and cars will arrive at said gate one by one in an orderly fashion, what planet do they live on. Hundreds of cars are coming from all over the UK and Europe for a major event not the opening of a shop where the doors open at 0830, the gates should open when the first cars arrive, they've had 12 months to prepare for this

There's a difference between being stuck in traffic and being parked on the road-side.
The point I'm trying to make is what if everyone gets there at 0830 and the gates aren't open? People are going to have to park on the road-side, there's nowhere else to go! Can't wait to see the look on the "enforcement officers"' faces as they're told where to shove themselves by a few hundred angry spotters/photographers

Re: RAF Waddington International Air Show 2013
If you turn up at 6am and park on the side of the road because you want to by the first person if, you'll get a ticket. If you turn up at 9am and there's a traffic jam because they're struggling to get people through the gate, you won't. That bit makes sense to me...blakey wrote:I cant see the difference between being stuck in traffic waiting to go through the gates and parked in traffic waiting to go through the gatesChrisGlobe wrote:There's a difference between being stuck in traffic and being parked on the road-side.

Re: RAF Waddington International Air Show 2013
So just to clarify, if i join the queue at say 2.5 miles from the gate and im stationary on double yellow lines, do i just assume the gate is open ( i wont be able to visibly see it) and i can argue the £70 on the spot fine, or should i have my debit card handy because in the eyes of the law im parked on the roadside
