Daks over Normandy: 2-5 June 2019@Duxford
Re: Daks over Normandy: 2-5 June 2019@Duxford
I very much doubt Cambridge as they have weekend closures at the moment due to ATC staffing problems...unless of course some aircraft are planning to arrive there by the Friday, then relocate to DX on Monday.

Could the reference to Cambridge mean a flyover of the American Cemetery?

For those of a biking dispostion there's a meet at 11 at The Custom Cafe at Bexhill in aid of Movember before riding up to Beachy Head at 1.30 to watch the flypast just before 3. I'll be there on my DR 400.

In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

6 Daks have just left Waterbury- Oxford airport in the last half hour, on their way to the UK.
Cant see them on any tracking sites as yet.

Those were on local flights, I think. However DC-3 N33611 routed Montreal-Goose bay this evening, apparently travelling solo.

Good Evening.
Would anyone know if Sunday June 2nd for Daks arrival is a normal entry day or subject to advance tickets please ?
I looked on the events website but it was unclear from that days activity what the ticket arrangement was
Thanks and regards,
Paul

Aircraft are now on their way in the U.S. 9 are due into Presque Isle Northern Maine Airport in the next couple of hours. If you use Flightradar24 you can filter aircraft type “DC3” and a few show up over Maine.

A well spaced procession of C-47's showing on FR24 heading from Oxford to Presque Ile. Think the last one on your list should read N103NA

Re: Daks over Normandy: 2-5 June 2019@Duxford
The schedule posted today is a little different to the one on the Daks over Normandy website, there seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there.
The C-53 display, 4 ship display and parachute jump on the 5th is happening according to one page, but not according to the other.
Duxford are apparently opening earlier that 10am, but this is only a rumour.
You'd hope that the Daks over Normandy website and Facebook page would have the same info, but they don't....
Does anyone have any firm information as to the plan? It's looking very much looking like a turn up and see event on the Wednesday now....
Mike

Re: Daks over Normandy: 2-5 June 2019@Duxford
It continues to amaze me that otherwise sincere and professional organisations seem to think that once a website is published for the first time, that after that you never bother to update it.
I have been following the event for over a year and the aircraft list has not changed at all that I can see. Many of the aircraft have histories, but plenty others just have a blank page. Even if the operator is not co-operating, a quick Google would allow someone to add useful info on each aircraft. There must have been cancellations and (hopefully) additions, but there's nothing to show this. It seems to be quite a large organising team of 14, including someone responsible for social media (!), plus there's the involvement of the IWM, so you'd think someone would try to keep paying customers updated.
Now we have a situation where contradictory info is being published - not cool...
I am a natural pessimist (unfortunately), and I do wonder whether anything like 38 - 40 aircraft will turn up. I think if it's below 15 or so, the organisers will have some interesting questions to answer...

Re: Daks over Normandy: 2-5 June 2019@Duxford
From snippets read here, there & everywhere we can see that the US. contingent (already enroute) is missing some aircraft due to withdrawal, funding & mechanical issues. Add to that the Membury DC-3 "Night Fright" which is miles away from completion & clearly won't take part plus any others that just don't work on the day & you will be very lucky to see more than 25 DC-3 variants IMO! Would be very happy for somebody from the organising team to set me straight?
Re: Daks over Normandy: 2-5 June 2019@Duxford
I sent Daks over Normandy a tweet yesterday, they are supposed to be coming back to me with some further info.
I'm in two minds as to whether to save the £30 and put it towards something else now.....

No scenic flights in the U.K. Their statement has been posted to Facebook here:

“Dear friends, it grieves us very much but we have to inform you that no scenic flights can be made in the UK.. Dutch CAA was very late in issueing the AOC permit for the aircraft. It means UK CAA does not have enough time to process it.. We are very sorry.”
