Duxford Battle of Britain 2020 - Cancelled
Re: Duxford Battle of Britain 2020 - 18th - 20th September (3 DAY SHOW)
Crowd gatherings to be lifted from October 1st. Can we squeeze in an airshow?

I think so, they said pilot schemes for events of various crowd sizes (for sports) from August. I think airshows could fall into that. Though they are allowing indoor crowds with social distancing from August too for theatres and concerts so outdoors should be ok too? The October timeframe relates to football and other sports.

Surely the Duxford Airshow where in effect you have "mass stadia" attendance would not be allowed until October? I can't see how you can bend the rules from August?
Even the museum is well behind in opening and does6nt yet even have a date.
Cosford, Dehaviland, Hendon, all opened this week.
If they are so behind with the basics in terms of static entry , surely organising an airshow in 8 weeks looks optimistic ?

The September air show was never cancelled and was being planned long before lock down started.

Indeed, we're at about the same stage for announcements as usual. Given the circumstances, I imagine there will be, with some confidence, rather more intense activity taking place regarding participation etc.Pen Pusher wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 6:08 amThe September air show was never cancelled and was being planned long before lock down started.

According to posts elsewhere, Red Arrows self confirmed for Duxford in September today during the virtual RIAT airshow.
Edit: Yes, mentioned by Red 10 during the show.

Looks like the BBMF have self confirmed as well.......
I have just returned from a fantastic Shuttleworth Drive in Airshow.
You had a 5m square to allow for your car and seating the occupants of the car. It worked perfectly and the sun even made an appearance.
Looking forward the Duxford September show in whatever form it decides to go with. It obviously depends heavily on the crowds willingness to follow the rules. Yesterday showed it can work, We all have a part to play in this.
Counting down the days.

Don't think they have officially. A paper covered their PDA and said about a display at Duxford coming up. However, the quote was from a photographer who sent them photos, he said
"I think they are going to display at an air show in Duxford in September and they can now display if there are royal events."

Sea Fury T.20 WG655, which was listed for the September show sadly crashed this afternoon after the Duxford showcase event. Pilot and passenger only sustained minor injuries but aircraft looks very bad.

With the public Grandstand gone from this years show, where would be the best place to go on the airfield? I've heard a few say down towards the tank hangar at the bottom of the airfield in the past but was thinking about somewhere close to the American hangar.
Re: Duxford Battle of Britain 2020 - 18th - 20th September (3 DAY SHOW)
Think it will depend on crowd layout etc on the day.
Opens at 0800. Any advice from previous shows as to best time to arrive by car to have less frustration with traffic...thanks.

It partly depends which way you are coming from but the gates won't open until 8 and you won't be allowed to stop on the road- I used to aim for 8.15 so as to miss the initial queue but miss the slightly later rush. Heaven knows what will happen this year.

With a month to go hopefully some more updates coming this week.
Compared to previous shows, how are we looking for officially confirmed aircraft at this point in time?

De Havilland DH-9 E8894 has been removed from the confirmed list on the website
Edit: Nope, just moved to friday page. Didn't realise Proms had its own page for flying.
