Getting the F15 demo team seems like a bit of a coup for Duxford.

I think it will be two fly bys, 1 slow one and 1 fast one, and then back to Lakenheath. They do not have a dedicated display pilot to do this, which is why I think that is all you will get. I hope I am wrong. I will be missing only my second Duxford show in 17 years. Will be on a big ship. [40th Anniversary, and I couldn't get time off for the show.] Have a good one. The show will be brilliant, but don't expect too much from the F.15. I hope I am wrong. :( :(
You are wrong  read the post and the Duxford website

yeah congratulations!!! considering this is an SJ jet or even a possible LN, this is completely different from RIAT.

PLUS considering i was talking to a 492nd pilot in the viewing area the other week, he was saying that the role demo WILL be using the SJ jet at the moscow + european airshows and will be stopping at LN for fuel, dont try become the big know it all when it hasnt even happened yet, it could happen either way!!

Moscow show now on - using a Lakenheath jet flown by a Seymour Johnson pilot.

As Dave said - A full F15E display with a SJ Pilot ( i.e. - the official F15E display pilot) flying a 48 FW Eagle.

Hi everyone

Well im certainly looking forward to a full display by the F15.

Who esle remembers Flying Legends a few years ago, 2006 i think it was.

The F15 flew a full display show after performing a fly by with 2 warbirds, this was a demo pilot in a LN jet.

Hi everyone

Just watched the video on You Tube of the Flying Legends F15 display.

It was 2007 when it did this and the fly by was with two Mustangs and a Cobra.

Awsome, if the pioot does the same at the Sept Show, i will be well happy.

I saw it at Flying Legends in 2007 but sadly did not have my video with, i won`t make that mistake this time.

Not long to wait now Ant. :thumb:

I edited my post, apologising for not noticeing it, then failed to press the submit tap. Apology accepted of course, and please accept mine for the misunderstanding. Regards, John.

Just out of interest...

Do any of you guys know why the 48th FW have'nt got a dedicated display/demo pilot/aircrew? I just wondered as it seems a bit daft to use either the East/West coast demo pilots from the US when they could have one here from the 48th FW for UK & European demos.

I'm sure that the 48TH TFW used to have an F-111 display aircrew years ago, just as the 81st TFW at Bentwaters had a dedicated A-10 display pilot. What changed?

Cheers,
TankBuster
And there's plenty more where that came from!

The only official USAFE display pilots were provided by the 36TFW for F-15A/C, 81 & 10 ('90 &'91) TFW for the A-10 and 50 & 401TFWs for the F-16A/C. This was mirrored by units for PACAF and ConUS, the latter having both East & West coast crews, as they still do but only for the Hog and Viper at the moment. The rest of the USAFE fleet (F-111E/F, RF-4C, F-5E (actually did display in '1979) and prior to that F-4C/D & F-100D etc didn't have a dedicated display crew but provided flypasts only.
After the Gulf War (version 1  ) and the end of the Cold war, the resultant draw down of units unfortunately lead to the withdrawl of dedicated display crews from 1992. It would be great to have an F-15C, A-10, F-15E and even F-16C back on the European circuit but I can't seeing it happen.
Interesting to note that unlike the RAF and European display acts, the display routine remained pretty much the same for each type from 1981- 2007/8 ish whether it be USAFE, PACAF or ConUS. That was until this year, I was quite amazed to see the newly re-vamped hog demo at RIAT, and the sequence for the Mudhen this year is pretty damn good..
