FYI.
The road to the south of the airfield, running about parallel to the runway WILL BE CLOSED on Sat and Sunday. The signs to that effect are already displayed on the ground.
It might save someone a trip

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
Am i reading this right that all access to the naughty field are shut over the airshow weekend?? Paul
Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
Paul,
Sorry but that is all that I can report. I am not even sure what is meant by Naughty Field. That road has signs stating that it will be closed.
I was trying to be helpful in passing on my experience on the ground.

Dan,
The road (Grange Road) that leads to position B, on Duxford Airfield locations link, is always closed to vehicles during the Airshows.

Next to the gate is a sign put in place during 2011.

The fields and mound (Position A) are always hit and miss. You can be asked to leave by the Farmer or by the Police.

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
Dan... i know its not PC to actually post this, but my understanding of the Naughty Field usually means going into Duxford Village itself and parking at the School... All you need then is a deckchair and follow the crowd...several on here know where i mean... I personally dont think you will be disappointed. Yes. as stated earlier you can be asked to move on, but their are pathways that criss-cross the said Field and are used by dog-walkers etc all year... All anyone is usually asked, is to respect the Farmers crops-and thats just common-sense really. Wherever you decide to go?? have a good day..... I know i intend to!.

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
Duxford School is very easy to find-- from whichever way you approach, follow signs for Duxford itself rather than IWM Duxford.... It is the opposite side of the M11. The School is approx 500--800yds ish from said Field. The School itself charges a small fee for parking , but that entitles you to 2 free hot drinks usually.. they also have an ongoing BBQ all day plus home made cakes etc with access to toilets as well. You can watch from the School grounds or make your way to the Field.. either way a cracking day out with the proceeds going to help purchase extra equipment etc for the School... And before anyone asks..No, I do not work there!.roughcutter wrote:Daft question, where abouts is Duxford School in the village, is it far to walk to the airfield?

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
Almost worth a visit to just to boost the School funds.
FYI,
An Apache came in on 06[?] at 1600hrs, Wednesday, did a bit of a wobble over the grass runway and flew off east.
There are/were signs displayed on the Grange Road [not naughty] field entrances threatening prosecution of trespassers.
There are obviously many types of locals living near the airfield.

Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
I think the photo by Pen Pusher, although great, doesn,t tell the whole story..trust me. Dont think i,ve seen as many cars parked at the School in a very long time!.
Re: Duxford's Naughty Field
The school field was full to capacity yesterday. In the naughty field I've never seen so many people. Really good to see so many 'Old school' military photogaphers - it was like an annual reunion. Amazing to see everyone shooting civil registered Yaks - a sign of the times, I guess.
