RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2010

Post by airtyphoon » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:50 pm

well yeovilton air day takes place on the 10th of July 2010. In the brochure they only give the date and no theme for next year's air day.
But if im not mistaken next year its RNAS Yeovilton's 70th Anniversary so that could well be the theme in which case what aircraft would you like to join in yeovilton's celebrations?.

Some USN stuff would be very welcome, as would some support from the RAF for a change like they do on RAF ground.
Other than that... nice weather would be a nice change from the norm... (!)

I agree With you about the RAF support For Yeovilton Air Day. Just take this year there was only two sea kings in the static park i believe the Nimrod cancelled and the RAF king air stayed on the opposite side of the airfield.

It would be nice to see the RAF support yeovilton with some extra Statics and displays Next Year.

After 2009, I would just be delighted with some sun shining down on Yeovilton :)

I would love to see some Harriers in the commando assault.

There are Harriers in the Commando Assault (they did on Arrivals day and rehearsal with the two Hunters)...
Its just that the RAF did not want to take off in any weather this year...

As much as I hate saying this :'( but the Harriers at VL this year were Naval Strike Wing, thus Navy pilots, but it has to be said the Crabs have always had a fair weather reputation :P

Wish there were a few NSW GR7/9s in the first participation especially as this could be one of the last times we will see the "British" Harrier at an airshow! :'(

If im not Mistaken the NSW Harriers were not added until March Last Year.
it would have Been nice to see a Jetstream display as i believe the king Air takes over its role in 2011.

This is according to Yeoviltons official site. The dutch f16 has only just been added to the official site, but flightline have had it listed for a while. Belgiums f16 has changed from a flyer to static

Of the F-16s, the Belgian and Dutch aircraft are the flyers. The Danish are sending a pair for static display only. (I have checked with the organisers)

Yeovilton are aware of the types on their main website, but the RN website staff are somewhat short staffed at the moment so updates aren't being made as regular as they would like!
