The Royal Navy International Air Day's big gathering of former military observation platforms. At its core is a never-before-seen Auster line-up of every military model, from the Taylorcraft Auster 1 to the Auster AOP11 and Beagle Husky. These characterful, high-winged types might have lacked a fighter’s speed, or a bomber’s weapons load, but excelled as airborne ‘spotters’, especially in Normandy when they were the first powered aircraft to land after D-Day and later proved themselves once again over jungle territory in the Far East.
