Quick Log 25-9-19

Post by Tiger 1 » Wed Sep 25, 2019 11:29 am

Good afternoon everyone.

As I was in the area, I dropped in for a hour to see what was happening... very quiet today and not the best weather but a few movements in the hour between 11.15am and 12.15pm local as follows...

Hawk x 2 departed and returned as call sign SPIDER.

XX161
XX234

MERLIN
ZH851 Landed
????? Landed
????? On Ramp

AVENGER

ZZ??? On the ramp and then towed to hangar.
ZZ500 Landed
ZZ503 Landed

Passed by Fire section and noted in the small hangar 1 x Merlin fuselage.
1 x F35.. presume a replica / Mock Up.
1 x Sea Harrier.

Regards.

Hi Mike

Your welcome... shame the base isn't as active as it once was but still enjoyed dropping by for an hour.

Regards.

The F-35 is indeed a mock-up but is a fairly specialist one. It has been commissioned and built for use by the Culdrose based 'School of Flight Deck Operations'. It is same size, shape, etc. And can be filled with water to replicate the weight of a real F-35 to allow realist training.

Hi Bucc67
Many thanks for the info... very interesting... as a mock up though, I would expect it not to have any kind of serial?

Regards.

Apologies for the lateness of this but I've only just seen the post

The F-35 mockups are numbered GTA 01 through 04

GTA 01 and GTA 03 have black painted canopies, GTA 02 and GTA 04 have actual canopies

Whereabouts? Harrier could be one of a few but Merlin may have been the testing mockup AV511.
