Hello Guys!

Don't suppose anybody knows when the base goes on summer leave, might pop down next week?

Don't ignore Newquay if you are down this way. Might well be quiet but you never know and there have been some interesting military movements over recent weeks including Indian Air Force Merlin in primer over the mid-Cornwall area this afternoon. Allow time to get around with al the August traffic on the roads ! Good luck with seeing some flying at Culdrose.

Arriving in Truro at 14:30 BST I noted a Merlin high over the city and assumed it was from Culdrose but now wonder whether it was an Indian aircraft.

Earlier this year I read that the Indian contract may be cancelled over bribery allegations and wondered if that matter has been resolved now.

There was some night flying last night (6th). viewtopic.php?f=34&t=84509

Thanks for the info, and sorry to barge in on the tread, just wondering if the viewing area / cafe is still there? Been a couple of years since I've been down that way. Guessing the station tours are not happening next week... typically!

Viewing area still there, café was open yesterday & I saw an airfield tour depart. With the airfield on Summer Restricted Operating Period I would imagine the tour would be less interesting than when the airfield is fully active.

Went on a tour today (as well as having a brew!) Still plenty to see, though I can well imagine there being a lot more when its not holidays. Still worth a Tenner in my book.. plus it was a couple of hours away from the wife and kids! Thanks for the info on here.
