Does anyone know if the Wildcat operating out of Culdrose yesterday has left yet? I wouldn't mind keeping an eye out for it today

ZZ414 was about yesterday (possibly two other), haven't looked out there today yet, will do in a minute, i'll let you know what's on.

Think I just saw it on my screens. Seems to have landed, only showing an 824 Merlin and a couple of avengers up at the moment. Might go up to the viewing area soon to have a look

Only know of one Wildcat yesterday, as Malf has already posted ZZ414 c/s Talon 705

At the viewing area now, two wildcats have just taken off

Not been lucky enough to catch any of them yet
If your out the viewing enclosure now Kyle don't suppose you noted a tornadorouting through did you?
Driving down in to Falmouth about 15:00. Noted what looked like one low and slow over the docks!!!
Hopfully someone can confirm it for me!

Let's hope that CU helo and a/c ops are well and truly up and running from today onwards
My wife (who hates ANYTHING aviation wise ) and myself saw a low flying Merlin manoeuvering just to the west of Treliske Hosp. today!
In the coming days - the more a/c and helos the better!!!!!!! --Paul

Everything seems to be up and running, I have seen a lot of action from all of the Culdrose aircraft since yesterday. Hawks, Avengers and Merlins seem to be constantly in the air! And the Sea Kings are up a lot of the time . Don't worry about your wife, my Dads the same! I was shocked when he accepted to drive me to Culdrose when the Chinooks turned up a couple of months ago!

Yes, many thanks mate - the a/c & helo ops that you describe are all very good! You have done a very good job in persuading your dad to co-operate with your good and increasing interest in aviation - there is absolutely nothing wrong in that!!
In the next number of days, let's hope for much more activity - I am sure that I can say that for all of us on here, we have missed seeing the Sea Kings (apart from 771 SAR - who are always welcome anywhere ), the Merlins, Hawks, Avengers, etc, etc, during the recent holidays.

Meanwhile, I cannot really understand my wife, whom I said before HATES all of anything aviation related
I have tried and tried and tried to persuade her to take a good interest in our Culdrose military helicopters and aircraft, but I think that I shall have to concede that she is simply not interested. However, at least I am and I will continue to be interested in these for ever!! --Paul

Good luck with the wife! I am going to miss spending half a day at the viewing enclosure like I have these past two days when I'm back at school on Thursday, hopefully we will get some more evening visitors from now on .

My Dad was an interesting challenge at Classic Air Force for the VC-10, I am sure he loved it deep down though

My wife? - well time will tell, but I do not hold out much hope!! - if I say 'there's an AEW Sea King' Bagger, with the 'dustbin' - What are you talking about? I don't care!!
If I say - Oh, there's a Merlin helicopter at low level - what's that? If I say - wow, there's an Avenger - Oh - what's that???

Don't worry, noone has ever suppressed my interest in aviation, had it all my life! It was only since when I found Fighter Control have I got serious about it, I never realised how many visitors we do get down here, like for instance the 146 that is always down from Boscombe and the odd Tornado into Newquay.

Yes, exactly my thoughts also!! - I cannot understand any ones non-interest in aviation, either military (or civil for that matter!)
I am so pleased that you have a genuine interest in our R.N. Aviation - I am 57yrs old - and from a young boy, when I used to live at Penryn, -
I saw Gannets, Bell Sioux helos, Hiller helos, and later, R.N.Wessex & Sea Kings flying over. This is what fired my interest in the Fleet Air Arm.
I was so interested that I eventually applied for and was accepted for the Royal Naval Auxiliary Service in 1979 (Classified Communications) until 1991, when it was finally disbanded. (at the end of the Cold War)
The rest is history and it is still going!!! --Paul

I'm the same, I can't understand that people can not be amazed that that small dot in the sky is traveling at 500mph, 11km high ferrying 400 people to another continent! Or that that Huey may not look like much but without it the World would have taken much longer to realise the true potential of a helicopter!
