Hi Malf (& everyone),
Sorry that I cant help with any serial I/d for this one - however, there may be a discrepancy in the dates for this 'incident'.
I picked it up last Sunday on: http://www.ufocasebook.com - they have a reference to the West Briton also at the bottom of the report.
On ufo casebook, it said that it was published on 26th April, (please click on main story headline!) which would have placed the observed sighting on Friday 25th at around 11PM.
Interestingly, the posted date on the West Briton Report is 28th April, which would have been the Monday (placing it on Sunday 11PM)!!
During the mid-evening on Friday here, I did hear a Merlin out to the west, above the low cloud level, I thought it unusual at the time as Friday night flying from CU is fairly rare around here.
It is certainly an interesting sighting, as reported - (by various observers also) unless radar unobservable in any way, then it must have been picked up on radar!
All that I can say though that here at that time, on Friday evening (11PM) it was overcast and raining!! --Paul

Re: Serial/ID Request: Sunday Night's Visitor.
There seems some confusion over the date? ?
But on Thursday the 24th late evening, 2 different Avengers were up and about. And a Tornado was noted down West. viewtopic.php?f=40&t=96602
Ask anyone that lives in helston , thats seen the Avengers night flying will tell you the lighting set up On them would fit the bill for the description given ?!!
UFO.. MY Ass!!

Hi buzzer,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, you are most probably right that it was a mis-identified aircraft of some kind, especially with the lighting as was reported.
All that I personally said was that there seemed to be some confusion over the dates, (which indeed there seemed to be!). I did not mention that it could have been a 'UFO' (I don't think that it was anyway!!), - but as to what any other 'observers' saw at the time, - well, that's up to them!! --Paul

Puffins !
A huge flock of them . The ones at the front were carrying torches as it was quite late and they would have been struggling to see .
I believe they were practicing formation flying for the up coming international puffin formation flying championships held in Cadgwith.
..............................ok , maybe I ought to lay off the JD tonight
