It was announced on the Cosford facebook page around 40 mins ago. Advance tickets via the website and phone line have now sold out. They are still available via some retailers http://www.cosfordairshow.co.uk/retail.php

Hi, can anyone tell me where is best to watch from the outside at cosford? I have seen that the cricket club open their field and also the bowling club, has anyone been to both and which one is the best to view/ take photos from?

Any info would be much appreciated

A couple of questions if I may...

I cannot make the actual show on Sunday but would like to see some of the stuff attending, my questions are

1) Does most of the stuff arrive on Friday

2) The likes of the flying F18, will that fly from Cosford or another field (not a trick question, just don't know with runway lengths etc)

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

For the sakes of this discussion, Cosford doesn't have a runway. It's grass, and not very long. So whilst if push came to shove you probably could operate Mig-29/Jaguars/C-17 etc, the reality is that they don't and won't.

My money is on Shawbury for most of the fast jets, and Brize for the heavies.

Malcolm,

Thanks for the reply, but It had a runway last Friday when I passed, its was most definitely Asphalt and around 3900 ft long according to google.

Shawbury would make sense hence why I checked.

I thought it actually has a 5000' grass strip too, but can't find that mentioned in the FLIP's. However, I did say "For the sakes of this discussion". 3900' isn't long enough to operate anything big or fast safely unless it has short field capability. Fine for most prop trainers and the like Tucano's, PC-7/9, Spitfires etc.

If history is anything to go by, fast jets will be at Shawbury. However, there have never been so many fast jets involved in this show before, and wouldn't be surprised to see most go into Brize, as per the NATO flypast last year at Celtic Manor.

Planning a family day at Cosford from outside. Do any photographers have any comments on either the Albrighton Bowls club or the Albrighton Cricket Club, both are south side of the airfield. Thanks
