Post by MRTT » Sun Sep 18, 2016 7:43 pm

Date has been announced, themes haven't been confirmed by Peter on UKAR yet but I've found this from the Station Commander of RAF Cosford.
For now, I can tell you that our 3 Key Themes for 2017 are: Battlefield Support, International Cooperation, and Space

Hopefully the theme of Space will reach the static park and they can park some items a little more sympathetically.

It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.

First addition of the new year
AIRCRAFT CONFIRMED: Cessna O-2 Skymaster - Postbellum Foundation - Static Display

Joining the static aircraft on display in the 1960s Vintage Village will be a rare example of the Cessna Skymaster flying across from the Netherlands for the Air Show!

The Cessna Skymaster was designed to replace the Cessna Bird Dog for Forward Air Control duties and was used extensively during the Vietnam War by the United States Air Force. It has two engines, mounted in a ‘push-pull’ configuration which gives the Skymaster a unique shape. The aircraft will be part of the 'Battlefield Support' theme at the Air Show.

This weeks update
AIRCRAFT CONFIRMED: UH-1 Huey & OH-6 Loach - Flying Display

The latest addition to the Flying Display on Sunday 11th June is a rare pairs display from the Huey & Loach helicopters!

The UH-1 (officially named Iroquois) was designed as a medical evacuation and utility helicopter for the US Army, and first flew in 1956. The Huey saw serve in countless conflicts, including the Vietnam War, and became one of the most successful helicopter designs of all time, with over 16,000 examples produced globally.

The OH-1 (officially named Cayuse) was the military development of the Hughes 500 helicopter which first flew in 1963. It was used by the US Army for personnel transport, attack missions, and aerial observation.

Both helicopters will be performing together in the Flying Display as part of our 'Battlefield Support' theme at the RAF Cosford Air Show 2017.

The RAF Cosford Air Show 2017 will be an ADVANCE TICKETS ONLY event. For more details about the Air Show, and to book your tickets, visit our website: www.cosfordairshow.co.uk
