Is there any news on the Bournemouth Airshow yet, due to take place the end of August?

Have not seen any posted, being late August, if we come out of the virus fight as they are planning,
Then small chance it could take place still.
Just wait and see on this one,

With the news the Great Dorset Steam Fair has been canceled which was going to be held 27th -31st Aug it isn't looking good for Bournemouth for this year.

The steam fair does take a lot of planning and infrastructure to set up.
The seaside shows are not that complex, not saying they are easy btw.

Will depend on how the social distance rules plan out, if the beaches around the UK are opened
In a month or 2, they could be a chance.

According to a phone conversation I had last week end Dorset Steam Fair were still taking bookings, so the cancellations was quite a decisive quick decision, which still makes me wonder about Bournemouth. It's not just the actual air display but all the other things like trade stands, amusements etc. I don't know if there any road closures put in place for the event , but they can't be organised last minute.

I think if you ask yourself the question 'will it be possible to hold an event that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country to a crowded seafront, and maintain social distancing at the same time'?, you have your answer. I wouldn't make any plans if I were you.

An announcement this morning by BCP Council this morning they have decided with regret to cancel all outside events untill after the end of August, which unfortunately will include Bournemouth Air festival 2020.
I think 2020 is going to be a bare year all together, roll on 2021.

Just read a report in the Daily Echo a Bournemouth based paper of plans for a climate friendly car race around Bournemouth are being drawn up. It goes on to say "the idea has been revived at the time of a growing debate about the future of the air festival and its sustainability at a time of climate emergency" Could this be the end of Bournemouth Airshow. Has anybody else read or heard anything about this.

From the same paper today:
"SUGGESTIONS of a Green Grand Prix on the streets of Bournemouth have been welcomed by residents and a town centre councillor – although it appears there is no appetite for the event to replace the air festival. "

Bournemouth Airshow 2021

Post by Freeman Lowell » Mon May 24, 2021 7:18 pm

Whilst appreciating it's not the most exciting news, the Bournemouth Air Show is happening for 2021.
Confirmed for all four days (Thursday 2nd - Sunday 5th September) are:
Red Arrows
BBMF - Spitfire, Hurricane & Lancaster
Lightning  I mean Typhoon!

Re: Bournemouth Airshow schedule?

Post by bland1 » Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:28 am

I am thinking of going down on Thursday, does anyone have any idea of timings for the displays for the main and sunset shows e.g. 2-5pm then 7-8pm

Would be helpful for me to plan my transport options

Main display starts approx. 1300 until approx. 1715. Night air 1920 although unsure there's a documented end time.

Hope this helps.

Just wondered if anyone knows when the Typhoon is expected to arrive at Hurn, and if it will be based North or South side? That is assuming it is operating from Hurn! Many thanks in advance.

As far as I know, the Lancaster is still at Duxford ? Any idea if it's coming to Bournemouth straight from there, or is it more likely a no-show ?

Thursday late am. I can't give you the parking details but it will be access to authorised personnel only
