I wasn't going to bother this year, but with SAFHF involvement I'll be there. 20 years since I've seen a Viggen display. Well done Bournemouth.

The show starts at 1.30pm with The Red Devils Parachute team, but actual flying starts at 2pm.

Bit of a stop start display today, with some long gaps.

Apparently the Tempest has canx altogether and the Fury didn't turn up either. Good flypasts from the Swordfish, Wildcat x2 and Wasp all in formation.

Nice to see the Draken and Viggen together, but their individual displays were very distant most of the time and had a pretty underwhelming use of afterburner.

Dunno if they weren't sure of the display area, but they seemed to use a LOT of sky.

I remember back to this display, and it was the first time I saw the Draken or the Viggen in the air, awesome - But the haze was a issue for photography and It seems like displays seem to be heading further out into the bay.

There is talk of the air festival returning in 2026 after funding was cut by the council..

The California-based Pacific Airshow were in talks with the council - but not sure if that has stalled or is still ongoing, lets hope for a 2026 return.

I am really gutted to hear this is happening being a local, It does not surprise me, its a new council and it does not fit their "green" agenda.

A have great memories of the Vulcan, the Sea Vixen, miss demeanor, the black cats, the red arrows, and so much more. Also some more sombre memories of when Flt Lt John Egging lost his life after a display in 2011.

It would be a great shame to lose the air festival, and I hope someone steps up to take over - but knowing the council is not actively seeking out new partners to run it does not fill me with hope.
