While I agree it would make a great location for spotters, flying aircraft off roads is old hat.
BAC (as it then was) LANDED a Jaguar on the incomplete M55 and took off again - back around 1976 I believe (almost 40 years ago).
Of course the Swedes are masters at this - being able to take off from roads was parto fhte design spec for machine like the Viggen and Gripen (any probably the Draken and Tunnan before that).
