Starfighter patch info

Post by Sid-104 » Fri Dec 06, 2024 12:49 pm

Wondering whether any of you knowledgeable guys can help me out with any info on this patch? I purchased it as far as I recall probably 80s or 90s. I've tried Googling the number and the motto, but very little comes up other than one for sale in the USA, which has it down as a Belgian air force squadron but 73A doesn't seem to relate to any F-104 units, let alone Belgium. I'm in the process of selling my patches at the moment so any info I can offer prospective buyers would be much appreciated.

Regards Sid.

Sorry... can't help with the ID of the patch but the colour might suggest it being Dutch....RNethAF...just a thought, they did fly the F104.

Regards.

That's a good point T1, I hadn't considered the colour. I've always had it in the back of my mind it was Danish, maybe because of the crown, but that could also relate to Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, or even Spain.

Thanks to the moderators for moving the post. I wasn't sure where to put it, this is where it should have gone first off, much more relevant.

Cheers Sid.

Someone else on ebay has it down as Belgian AF

Looking through ebay, there are also patches for 72Delta and 74Bravo

Your welcome Sid

My thoughts were because of the colour and the bird .. both of which are on the RNethAF Crest

Hope you get an ID on it ...be interesting to see who's it is...I searched for a 73A Sqn Belgium AF but nothing came back.

Regards.

It's a Belgian Air Force patch, or I was told it was Belgian when I got mine. 73A refers to the year of the intake or class to the OCU. So it would be the first intake of 1973

Thanks for the information Gary, that's very useful. It never crossed my mind it could relate to a year.

Cheers Sid.
