RAF Patch Web Site / Help

Post by Tiger 1 » Sun Jul 30, 2023 7:47 pm

Good evening all

I have acquired a few patches recently that I'm trying to research to gain more info and to value them but having trawled the net I cannot seem to find much info on them.

( 1 )

Jaguar Strike Wing Bruggen

This is a small round patch, light blue colour with a black edge... as a Jaguar outlined in black in a head on position.

( 2 )

Weapons Deploy

This is a Harrier patch... beige in colour... 4inch round, as a Harrier outlined in black in a head on position... as the word Weapons at the top of the Patch with the letter O depicted as a RAF roundel.

As the word deploy at the bottom of the Patch with again the letter O depicted this time as a cross hair sight... above the word deploy is red stitching with a yellow outline to simulate an explosion.

( 3 )

Buccaneer Patch

Black diamond with a gold coloured Buccaneer on it and the number 16.

Any help with a RAF patch web site or help to
I D the patches especially the Harrier patch as I cannot find anything at all on that one.

All of the patches are old possibly 70s / 80s but in good condition.

MTIA

Regards.

I feel it would help you a lot more if you posted images of them on the forum ;)

The buccaneer one is obviously 16 squadron from RAFG in the late 80s. As to value, a former member or a modeller wanting to add it to a base for a model of the Blackburn jet might give you a £5. Far more fun to get a large picture frame and make up a collection for the wall as I have done with my RAF Phantom AD squadron patches.

Hi everyone

I have a photo but unable to post due to no pc at this time.

No Web Site I'm afraid... I was actually asking if anyone knew of a Web site or could help with the patches... sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Hi Mate,

The only one I can help with is the Buccaneer one which is defo 16 Sqn. from when they were based @ Laarbruch in the '70s/'80 before they converted onto the Tonka.
Oh yes and the Jaguar one is as it says. The Wing consisted of nos. 14, 17, 20, + 31 Sqns. again back in the '70s/'80s before they converted to the Tonka whereupon 20 was replaced by no.9 from Honington and moved across to Laarbruch.
As for value I can't help there but RAF Germany memorabilia must be getting quite rare now. Also probably in demand from Museums and I know there is one @ Laarbruch who seem keen on collecting anything associated. They do have a website so why not Google them and see whether they'd be interested in the Bucc patch.
