Tomorrow afternoon, and a flypast only. Two if your lucky. Three and you should have done your lottery.

I only said it was heading towards Scampton , it would have been a bit early for a display , just thought I'd post it on this thread instead of heads up ;-)

Reports earlier what that it was quite bad, this was around 9am-10am. My gradnad arrived at 7.20 expecting traffic, and drove straight in, with no one else around.

Sounds like best plan is to arrive before 0830.

Drove into Lincoln this morning at about 08:30 from the North East (Wragby Road), clear all the way through.
Drove round the Eastern part and along Monks Road, no issues.
Lincoln town was clear.
Radio said at 08:45 that the South roundabout at Uni was chokka and the Bypass from Riseholme to Caenby (A15) stationary.
I came away from Lincoln in the rain at about 12:00
Looks like a F16 holding over Louth at 15:00 and the sky is dark over Lincoln way...
Hope you all have a safe journey home.

Well it's too expensive for me. £39 + £2 online fee. Didn't go. Makes me very angry that they put admission prices higher every year, knowing that the draw is the Red Arrows for the general public. Like a red rag to the general public.
For us who are really interested, it's the same old thing. Same old planes on the static line with a few newbies. The same old tat of stalls with patches, books, military clothing, and aircraft models. Most plane spotter go to airfields to spot. And may travel miles to get there, or stay overnight. The problem is that military airfields are only open Monday to Friday. Not like airports.

I worked out that with estimated amount of people attending the Scampton airshows for the two days, they made approximately THREE MILLION in just admissions. This did not include the cost the traders paid for the patches.

Now I think the airshows in the UK, we're admissions are charged, are taking us and the public for a ride.

Please LOWER THE PRICE, and you are sure to get more people into the airshows. :@ :@

ps: I did attend the Monday scampton departures, but it was a complete washout with rain. Wish it had been fine as it only cost a £5. :(

Good man David. I'm sure that the RAF Charitable Trust, and the people they support, will appreciate you putting your anger aside and making your contribution.

Hmm, this was not their finest hour, "their" being the organisers of this show. I'm hesitant to call it an Airshow. Totally overpriced (money grabbing softened up under the cloak of charity) for what turned out to be a very disappointing gathering of flying machines. What adds to the bitter taste is that this is the home of The Reds and not one other display team came to Scampton.

Without the Swedish contingent this show would have been a total flop! They should have their expenses reimbursed.

Already there are strains on the UK Airshow circuit, insurance costs, the safety thing, level of enjoyment versus expense by the paying public etc. This 2017 Scampton show has done the UK Airshow circuit no favours.

Interesting to see they are requesting feedback, also interesting to see the following;

The inaugural Scampton Airshow attracted more than 50,000 people to RAF Scampton over the weekend of 9-10 September with a total of 104 aircraft taking part in the show; 41 in the flying display and 63 in the static line-up.

Aerial highlights included the return of the BBMF Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire on Saturday, a USAF KC-135 on Sunday as well as a special flypast by the Red Arrows and an RAF Sentinel!

Thank you for your attendance and for supporting our parent charity, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.

We would love to hear your thoughts and would be very grateful if you could complete our visitor survey, available until midnight 22 September.

To be fair to the organisers, they would not have had any idea which aircraft would be attending when the ticket prices were set.

Organising it for the same weekend as Sanicole was probably one of the key factors in the reduced participation - however it could have worked in the opposite manner and attracted acts to perform at both like the Belgian F-16 did. With the Saudi display team over there it was a shame that they couldn't have been tempted to display at both shows.
