Vigilant squadron from Odiham moved to Lyneham over the summer due to Olympic airspace restrictions.

Fen you are right about the serials at one time there were 6 of the vigilantes at Lyneham due to airspace restrictions at Odiham.
This saturday was very busy with the aircraft flying the circuit and leaving the area.
We also had several visits by C130K and J hercules overflying the Lyneham area I think they had a pleasure flying day at Brize Norton.
The C130 K was the shotrt version and came over the field quite low at about tea time with the tail door down before turning back for Brize.
Also visiting were 2 former Lyneham Flying Club aircraft G-ELUE and G-AZWS.
These aircraft landed for a while and then returned to Kemble.
It made the airfield feel quite busy and I will miss them when they return to Odiham later this month.

Hi Dan

Silly me, missed that one on the Mil daily summaries,

I apologize for being totally slack and not reading (or taking-in) that fact...

Looks like the Vigilants have all gone home to Odiham as on Saturday there was no flying on the base at all and Sunday only a duck was brave enough to venture across the skies over lyneham.
Anyone know if they have returned to Odiham and will Lyneham fall quiet yet again untill the bulldozers move in to demolish some old buildings.
