Security and activity
Security and activity
Hi all,
Looking to visit Yeovilton very soon. Can anyone tell me the situation here at present. Is it busy, ok or dead and how is it with security now after the post I saw for last October.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Security and activity
Reasonably busy with Wildcats and Merlins. Grobs are up once or twice a week. Occasional F-35 visits, most often on Thursdays. Don't seem to start till about 10am most days recently.
Wouldn't worry about security as long as you stay outside the fence and other places you shouldn't be anyway. Pyle lane, Speckington, Museum car park should all be fine.
However, summer leave will start soon - dunno if it's just the Navy or if the AAC get it as well.

Much appreciated Malcolm. Thank you.
Re: Security and activity
I will bump this post with some relevant information, I went to Yeovilton last week and at the end of Pyle lane there was a big red sign saying secrets act, no photos or video or liable for arrest.
Re: Security and activity
I haven't been there personally but I'm pretty sure those signs are at most bases as standard, so probably not anything to worry about. Confirmation from a regular needed though
Re: Security and activity
The new signs are most probably to do with the National Security Act 2024. It is an now offence to photograph or video military installations from public land, it previously wasn't, but I wouldn't worry for aviation photographers as it's to do with potential hostile reconnaissance and 'auditors.' Police may stop and question/PNC you but if you're not a terrorist/'auditor'/wanted person, I think you'll be fine!!

The military must be worried about their future finances if they are arresting auditors seen on the fence. It will be the accountants next.tornado17 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 1:59 amThe new signs are most probably to do with the National Security Act 2024. Re: Security and activity
I’ve assumed you know what I mean by auditor? If not, these are the people who video security and police and try to provoke a reaction and then plaster it all over YouTube. Previously on public land authorities could not do much about them, now they can!NorvilleRogers wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 6:48 amThe military must be worried about their future finances if they are arresting auditors seen on the fence.
