I believe that there is an Irish Air Corps CASA on the ground this morning. Should be leaving just after 1pm.

Friday, if the gossip is good, there should be a German airforce A340 at about 12:45 pm, leaving 5pm' ish.

I have just seen a photo of the A340 at STN. Its a very modest looking aircraft, very understated. The 'Luftwaffe' on the tail is so faint it is difficult to read.

I am hearing that towards the end of the week we can expect some diversions from Brize as there are apparently some runway works being done there. Thursday and Friday evening there should be MRTT's due into STN for overnight stops because of this. :thumb:

They used Mildenhall last year for the same reason.

Yes I saw them at Mildenhall last year when I visited. I don't think its all the Brize flights at STN, just a couple. Any others could go elsewhere. Mildenhall is pretty busy at the moment with all the visiting aircraft and the temporarily posted KC-10's so they may not have the headroom this time. Mildenhall is also closed from the 14th to 19th April so that could also be a factor.

Any reason why RAF Fairford can not take these flights ? Surely crew transfer back to Brize available ? Guess it's good "away from base" training.

Fairford has no A330 equipment, presumably.

I believe ZZ330 is at Stansted and I will update the initial post when I get to a computer, it’s quite tricky on the formatting on the phone.

A nice looking USMC UC-12 (B350 King Air) came into STN today at lunchtime. Should be leaving noon tomorrow. Reg 16-8208

G-VYGK has been back and forth between Stansted and Thessaloniki between 14th and 16th April. It is one of the AirTanker 'surge fleet' but was using an RRR callsign.

JD4781, yes that is the same as I was told. If the rumour is correct G-VYGK should be back again Tuesday evening (19th) with another RAF RRR callsign.

A usually reliable source suggests that in early May we may be getting both Japanese air force Boeing 777's into Stansted on what could be long range training flights. If I hear any more I will post it up.

Don't think it's training, Politico are reporting Japanese PM will be visiting London on Thursday for talks with Boris Johnson.
