Brize closure

Post by slogen51 » Tue Jul 08, 2025 4:38 pm

Sorry if already mentioned - i have had a quick look

I heard today at the Marham fence the rather surprising news that Brize is closing next year for three years and provision has already been made to base the Voyagers at Prestwick

Is this true ?

Slightly exaggerated Brize is closing next year for a year while they resurface the runway and all of the taxiway surfaces.

Both timescales mentioned are way over what is actually happening
3 miles south of MAM-GITUS-MAM
20 miles south of MAM-DIKAS-MAM
1 mile north of UL9/14/18

I believe the runway is being done in sections with at least half length avaliable for the majority of the work which means all types are able to operate from Brize if needed.
