Well I seem to be heading to Fairford more and more often with Mum for a drive, so the more activity on base the better for us.

It always puzzles me when people move to houses near an airport and then moan about the planes...

So they don't give Fairford residents a early wake up call :P

Inteeesting times - certainly good for the local economy I'm sure - but I feel it's a bit strange - I've always thought one of the USAFs great strengths - especially in the UK over the years has been their PR mission - from older friends and spotters I've only ever heard good things about how the USAF have interacted with locals and aviation buffs with all the various open houses and base visits. I get the impression that for the most part they've tried to be very good neighbours and residents - I suppose that goes back to the 8th Air Force days - so it seems strange that there would be very little forewarning of these latest deployments and everything that comes along with them - more aircraft, more noise, more people etc. Time will tell I guess... they'll either all disappear as quick as they arrived or this becomes the new norm...

That'll be cleared to leave DYESS AFB direct EGVA Fairford, subject to serviceability issues?

They don't always fly direct and the expected route, the B-2s from a few years ago Pants 11 flight? Had flown several hours around the US before heading up the Eastern Seaboard and to Fairford. Depending what training they need to simulate on route

Maybe, who knows, but maybe every AFGSC bomber flying squadron now deploys to Fairford once a year....? (With some coming more than once for planning reasons and some not all for operational reasons?). But surely it's clear that bombers don't just come here for exercises any more - did any even go near Corsica for that JTAC exercise someone mentioned? Who knows......? Who knows....?
