Why not base them here ?

Post by Deramore » Sat Jun 17, 2023 5:33 am

Has the time not come to have more USAF aircraft based here 365 days a year ?

You're correct, the time has not come (according to those in the know who make the decisions in the USAF)!

Allegedly it'll be busier on base from September, but what that actually entails is anyone's guess...

Many thanks to all Fairford enthusiasts - please keep up the good work. Just one recent question:-

I'm told that RCH153 C17 01-0193 [AE10BC] arrived mid-morning yesterday (Monday 18/09.2023). Is it still here, or has it departed?

Cheers, TM74

Well, we're 66.666' % through September & 4 x Noggie F-35 (now gone) 2 x Alpha-Jets & a single A-4 don't constitute 'BUSY' imo. Still might get something (other than S**t weather) in the next 10 days, but I'm not holding my breath!

Ah so maybe that's the question in the original post, why not base all the aircraft from Lakenheath at Fairford?

I think you've got your bases a bit confused, this is about Fairford........ and there were 6 F35s originally not that it makes much difference 😁.

Annd...There lies the problem with not giving "here" a name. Apologies for predictably getting it arse about face!
Okay..Revised comment. We're 66.666' % through September & aside from the 2 x B-52 diversion, I'm unaware of any material increase in aviation activity at Fairford. Still might get something (other than S**t weather) in the next 10 days, but I'm STILL not holding my breath! ;) :thumb:
