When the F-35 arrive ??

Post by Wolf51 Flt » Fri Jul 09, 2021 12:41 pm

It will be interesting to see where the 1st F-35 or F-35's will arrive from

When the fist F-15E arrived it came in from EDAB Bitburg on 21st Feb 1992
as 'DUSTER 21' having made the trip from the USA on the 19th,I was there,
at EGUL that day think it was a Friday having made it back from EGVJ that's
Bentwaters to see F-15D 80-0054/BT (RED) depart home as EAGLE 21 Flt

When the first F-15C and F-15D arrived in November 1993 they also arrived
from EDAB as EAGLE 21/22 being the F-15 base in europe since 1977 I can
understand that.

Does this look like the first F-35 for the 48thFW will arrive at EGYM Marham
as a Retro aircfaft a few days before then be flown by a COL or the LT COL
of the sqdn to make the short hop across to EGUL to be on time for the
Razzamatazz and be on time let's hope it.s dragged by a 100th KC-135R on
not a KC-10

OR By HMS Queen Elizabeth ?????????????

and if anyone from the 48th reads this lets have some good Sqdn/Wing and
group marks and good luck with your new Type of Aircraft

Well you can count the HMSQE out as the Lakenheath ones will be F-35A models, non carrier compatible.
Cheers

I don't remember the Swingers popping into EGUA (sorry moderator but i assume this is a not-very-serious topic?) for a coke on the way (but I did make a stack of Pacific 'Lifters the weekend before bringing kit)

Now your talking about the days when SAC did all the dragging, everything seemed
to turn up on the right day in the 70's and 80's

On a separate note does anyone know when the F-15’s finish flying on a weekday? I finish work at 3.30 so I was thinking of heading up there after work to watch them.
Kind regards

Not sure why you think the UK Royal Navy would send a carrier to deliver a/c to USAF. It wouldn't end well as the F-35A is land based only!!

They might come from the factory at Fort Worth direct or with a stop on the East Coast first.. find out later in the year.

I stand corrected and here is the rest of the story 248 flew to Spangdahlem where the 53d was, they painted the tail and it flew here with the Wing Commander in the back.
