Question for the regulars re 493rd

Post by reaper493 » Tue Feb 01, 2022 8:47 pm

How many waves have the 493rd been flying lately?

Last Tuesday when I went there was 2, the early morning one starting before 8 and then an early afternoon one around 1pm. Do they ever do a third? Do they do two waves if the first wave is later in the morning?

I understand some are going back to the US tomorrow with the Blue at MH so not sure if tomorrow will be different?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Last time I was down (mid January) they were hot pitting and fairly sure they went up 3 times. All the squadrons seemed to be mega busy that week, every time I wanted a burger another set either came down to arming or turned up to land! Not complaining mind…

Best wishes

Last 2 trips down the place has seemed busier than ever from dawn until after dark. They were even using North Side for last chance checks one day. My next visit is at beginning of march so hopefully will be as active!

Hope Duxford was enjoyable. I still keep meaning to pay a visit when I'm down but always get distracted!

Best wishes

Duxford was great, busier than expected. Got round the whole site I 2.5hrs and made it to LN for 2pm. No reapers seen but did catch two SJs, will give it until 5 and then get off home.

Reaper F-15Ds flew about 1300 for a 45 minute sortie. They appeared to be giving demo rides.

Thanks, saw a couple of D's taxi back just as I arrived.

Hopefully I can have another run down before the end to get them in some good light.

Friday's not the best day to visit normally. You might see some flying in the morning but unusual pm unless something special on.

How many F-15s are left on base following the latest deployments?

Got a few days booked in Wales next week for my first trip to the Mach Loop.
Considering postponing if there’s so few airframes left in the UK.

Appreciate this is totally inconsequential in the grand scheme of things and I sincerely hope we see a deescalation of the situation in Ukraine soon, so all the crews can return home soon.

Cheers
JJC
