USMC F-35 September 2020?
Scramble have been reporting for some time that VMFA-211 are to due to deploy to Marham from 21/09 to 15/10 for Exercise Joint Warrior-2 & possibly Crimson Flag. In the present climate are these exercises still due to take place? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Re: USMC F-35 September 2020?
Who knows what the situation will be like in a couple of months time. Best just to wait and see or else we will have another topic inundated with guess work, speculation and conjecture.

plmc135. With just over a month to go a decision would almost certainly have been made if the exercises were to be cancelled. The MoD won't leave it to the last minute as you seem to imply. Just because you don't know it doesn't mean nobody does. I am hoping to get some more knowledgeable replies

And within that "guess work, speculation and conjecture" could be the answers the OP is looking for, as some people may be able to give clues without giving the whole story, so why try to stop people from posting what may be relevant information to the thread before it even gets going ,

There is quite a bit on the web although not all of it official
From Save the RN
The September GroupEx will be a big step-up in complexity from the modest scale of the recent exercise Crimson Ocean, consisting of 10 days of work-up, followed by two weeks of ‘free play’ in combat scenarios. The plan is to have an air group consisting of 5 UK and 10 USMC F-35 jets, plus 6 Merlin helicopters. With 15 jets on board, this will be the largest embarkation of F-35s afloat in the world so far.

From the same link:-
Exercise Joint Warrior will be followed by exercise Crimson Warrior, a flying exercise based at RAF Marham which will see USMC and UK Lightning jets conduct synthetic live combat training together. RN helicopters will also participate in this land-based exercise as the ‘CV Wing’ works up more complex flying scenarios.

Re: USMC F-35 September 2020?
Just to add a bit of speculation !!!! We can only live in hope it comes off
This was on the Reach section today
Showing as C-17A 05-5148/HH.
Inbound Mildenhall. This is the one that Skymaster reported yesterday as originating from Yuma, where the USMC F35s for Marham next month are based.
Wonder what it's carrying.

Re: USMC F-35 September 2020?
The liaison party from the USMC are on board the QE so it is just of matter of waiting for the jets to arrive at Marham. The ship is sailing sometime in September.
Re: USMC F-35 September 2020?
Given the size and duration of the deployment and the fact the USMC have lots of specialist Kit to support deployments, I would have thought it reasonable to expect the bulk of it to arrive by Sea/ Road to Marham and or Portsmouth/QE2 rather than Large numbers of flights by C17/C5,
Yesterdays HH may have had a advanced party, but as it was only on the ground at Mildenhall for a short while and then departed To Ramstein it had other other tasks as well..
When a RCH/CMB flight is flightplanned and appears on the to Marham Approach then I might get excited (probably not)!!
Just my penny's Worth.

Sometimes I think I preferred the pre-electronic age. Every visit was a mystery trip to the unknown!!
Just turn up and see what was there or not !
Lets wait and see what happens, no amount of , “will they/won’t they” will change their plans.

JW may run from Oct 10th until Oct 23rd, not yet confirmed. Thus may delay their arrivall although there will need to be time for isolation.
