On the last day of flying (March 30th????) do we think a group of Tornados will fly past important locations in the history of the Tornado?

The fuselage of ZA472 was on a low loader going along the Southern perimeter road towards the SW side of the base this morning.

Thanks, Reptile. I will assume that ZA613/075 was the "missing" jet as part of tanker flight accompanied by "Ascot 9692 (ZA449/020) and 9693 (Typhoon) with 9691 "missing" which arrived on 7th December.

GR4 ZA462/027 still complete and will be reduced in January
GR4 ZA543/036 still complete and will be reduced in February

Is the 30th March the last day of the Tonka?

Yes, they won't be flying past the end of March.

On the last day of other aircraft types such as the Harrier, did the last day pass without action or did the operating bases "have a little play" for want of a better phrase?

Both the jag and harrier had a mass launch on the last day of operational service, with the harrier event reduced on the day due to weather, and never flew again (I think).

The jags flew in small numbers for currency flights and delivery flights to Cosford if I remember correctly.

I have a feeling the Tornado will be the way of the harrier. Just waiting to see what they have planned....

Anyone heard anything official about the rumour of no more low level sorties allowed only medium level due to safety concerns. Shame if it's true but had to happen some time.

I heard from someone in Tornado force that no more low level sorties sadly, I trust my source but I do hope it's false.

Time will tell as always - I saw it on Facebook but it is hard to believe when the statement is accompanied with a photoshop image!

I was told by a friend who is a WSO on Tornado so I trust him, we shall see this week. I hope he has his wires crossed!
