THE HISTORICAL ASPECT OF THE CENTRAL FLYING SCHOOL AT RAF CRANWELL...

Post by Yellow belly » Tue Sep 11, 2018 10:09 pm

RAF College Cranwell is a thriving RAF Station in the heart of Lincolnshire with a long and distinguished history dating back to its foundations as a Royal Navy Training Establishment in 1916. It was the world’s first Air Academy and today, it continues to select and train the next generation of officers and aircrew. The Central Flying School has had a number of important people that have received their wings after completion of training which include the Prince of Wales and his son Prince Edward.

Flt Lt Charlie Brown joined the RAF in 1981 and during his flying career as an RAF pilot has flown the Tornado GR1, Jet Provost, Chipmunk, Bulldog, Tucano, Firefly and Tutor, together with a host of other aircraft. Charlie is currently stationed at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire and is a member of the Central Flying School Examining Wing. In his spare time he is also the Chief Flying Instructor at the RAF Cranwell Flying Club. In 2014 Charlie reached 1000 flying hours in Spitfires, which he described as "a real privilege" while celebrating this achievement with a bottle of Spitfire Ale.

For many years he has been a regular participant at Duxford air shows. He is a highly experienced Spitfire display pilot as well flying the restored Messerschmitt bf 109 . Charlie is now the Head of Training with Aero Legends

With RAF pilot Charlie Brown from the RAF Central Flying School, his experience in flying old and modern aircraft is real and exhilarating, so who could be better place to talk about the Royal Air Force Central Flying School under the title the CENTRAL FLYING SCHOOL THROUGH THE YEARS
