We set off for The WAVE to be greeted by a tremendous wind, but a bacon bap and coffee was partaken of courtesy of John (Softbill Man) and his lady , very nice it was too. Nothing was moving so we headed off for my mates birth village and managed to track down his place of birth, (First time he'd seen it in 55 years!!) Then back to the WAVE for another welcome 'Brew' The 'Spit' was a no show so we headed out into the wilds, we took them out via RAFs Colby Grange, Metheringham, and Woodhall Spa, where more Coffee was taken at "The Petwood Hotel" (WW2 617 sqdn officers mess) for a lot more history and photographs. A quick stop at "Thorpe Camp" to view the new artwork on the tail of XM 192

We then carried on down to Coningsby for a bit of a shock, not one Typhoon on the apron!!!!!, (there was however a 6 sqdn 'Typhie' on the wash ) The BBMF Dakota was also outside as was a Spit and Hurricane. As we watched a Tonka was towed out to sit besides another on the apron.
We went off for lunch (No we didn't have coffee!!) At the wonderfull "Bluebell" in Tattershall Thorpe, a nice pint of "Olde Trip" to wash down a fine "Lincolnshire Ham and Eggs" Then back to Coningsby just in time to see a plane moving under it's own power at last!!!

That was to be the only movement we were to see at Waddo all afternoon!!
We then headed over to RAF Scampton to see (Hopefully) the "Private Military Function" that we pieced together (Thanks to Highland Sniper and others) was to be a display a their home base sometime between 4pm and 5.30pm As we drove past there was no one more happy than I to see them lined up and ready to go, I was however amazed that there were only three other people in the viewing area.
We had a great view, even if from a different angle to normal, although the lighting left a hell of a lot to be desired!!.

At this juncture I would like to say thanks in particular to "Red 4" for coming in behind us , over the viewing area, at around 50 (Cough, cough) feet at full chat trailing white smoke and scaring the living s

On the whole , a great day out with some like minded mates, loads of history and great comradeship, thanks go to those who helped make it what it was. Highland Sniper (And others) for the NOTAM, Softbill man and his assistant for the coffee and bacon baps, Rog for driving, my mates for turning up, The RAF, and last but by no means least, ME for organizing the whole thing !!!
Thanks also go to you too dear reader, for taking the time out of your hectic schedules to view this tripe .........................
