Final E3D Departures

Post by reaper493 » Wed Jul 20, 2022 5:32 pm

Have seen it posted in a few Facebook places now so it's out in the open.

ZH103 departing 11am Monday 25th
ZH106 departing 11.30am Monday 25th.

If you're planning on attending the wave tall ladders are in order, the hedge is very tall - maybe 10ft, with only a small gap for 2/3 people just before the road lights.

Also worth noting the WAVE staff have taken to moving people who stand beyond the lights (or at least they try to!). The RAF are just not happy if people are stood at the red/white fence directly behind the runway, they've also said they can't do anything if you are stood on the other side of the road.

Happy spotting if you're going, no Flypast etc is planned as far as I know, just a straight out departure.

Mike,

Excellent info, sad to see them go indeed.

What are the plans with ZH101? Are they stripping for spares, and scrapping on-site?

Many Regards,

Ben

Ben,

I'm lead to believe that 101 along with 102/107 will be scrapped on site.
101 already has the radar removed and is in the process of being decommissioned if it's not already complete. I'm not sure if the Chileans are taking any/many spares. They're certainly not going to get much on the back of the Herc that's on its way, it could just be for ground equipment

Sentinel was retired in early 2021, three have already left for the States.

I'm guessing dantheman09 got special permission to take his center line shots from Jon and Christine

I see it's still one rule for others there then

Nope - those shots were taken late one evening, there was about 10/15 people there at various points, all got moved on by RAF Police at the request of air traffic.

Taken what they needed off 101, Mainly ground equipment and gantry’s for servicing Radome etc.. Remaining 3 frames will be scrapped on base, 2 of them are now positioned far side awaiting the JCB treatment

Hell yeah but the staff at the burger van didn't used to move people on in those days

It's the same old story........ certain people getting away with doing what they like up there.
