Will there be any Il-78 support for these (or rumour of)?

Will they do the Mach loop?Professor_M wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 6:26 pmWill there be any Il-78 support for these (or rumour of)?

Re: Cobra Warrior 23
I'd imagine they'd need tanker support to come all this way.
I'd think IL-78 and C-17 support are fairly likely.
Mach loop is definitely a given

Re: Cobra Warrior 23
I think all their IL-76 are retired - they replaced them with C-17s, only the Il-78 tankers remain, fairly decent odds that they'll need one to get here.

Been mentions that the Turkish Air Force may not be attending due to resources being utilised for Humanitarian work etc.
Sorry, Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower

The Il-76 might still be in service, but not for too much longer, by the sounds of it...

Re: Cobra Warrior 23
I've not been to a Cobra Warrior before, but am seriously considering popping along in Mid March.
Does everything fly on every exercise day? (By that, I don't so much mean every jet, but all nations with a representative sample of the aircraft they've brought along).
Also, are there no international ISTAR assets coming along for this one?

Re: Cobra Warrior 23
Last year's pattern:
Week 1 - Monday Wednesday Friday morning for exercise, various quantities of each type flew.
Week 2 - Tuesday Thursday morning for exercise.
Week 3 - same as week one.
On exercise days the Germans put up a pair in the afternoons to do other stuff. The Italians were hit and miss.
On non exercise days there would be two waves with anything from 2 to 8 aircraft in.
Hopefully a similar pattern this time round.
I'd think a normal package would be:
2 Turkish
4 Indian
4 Finnish
6 Belgian
Plus the Kc135.
No mention of any ISTAR stuff, presumably the NATO E3s will be participating from home after last year's poor show.

Re: Cobra Warrior 23
Pretty much spot on to a list I was sent tonight.
Indian IL-78 to Brize 01/03
2 Indian C-17s to Waddo 01/03
But these Support flights do not co inside with the supposed M2000s arrival which I have been given as 27/02
I think there is more we currently do not know about but looking good so far

Can any One confirm if this info is correct
BAF F-16 x8 & Swedish Gripen x6 to Leeming?

Re: Cobra Warrior 23
Fairly certain both those are incorrect.
