Streaming at Waddington.
Streaming at Waddington.
Request from Station Ops - if you are streaming from Waddington during the exercise, the crews have requested you do not zoom in on their faces. The Finnish have complained that their faces are all over YouTube.
If this continues the Police will get involved. Thanks for your co-operation.

Re: Streaming at Waddington.
If it wasn't so soddin' dark most of the time at Waddington, they could use tinted visors, or secondly maybe Oxygen masks? The Israelis previously adapted techniques for issues with the attending spotting & photography massif.
Seems a simple request not to do it but somebody who does/doesn't read this forum will still do it! Guessing the long border of Finland & Russia may in time be an worry for them, but then again not much different for several other nations?
Hey ho! best do what they ask.

I thought this hobby was about aircraft spotting and photography, not people watching and portraits!

That's the problem you get with a man and a bear deciding to zoom right up close to everyone and whatever they are doing. Stupid, really.

There's a difference though when you are taking close ups of military working personnel, especially with OPSEC. And the fact they aren't used to it. If I'm watching a live stream, I want to see aviation - Not some bloke in a hi vis by a jet for 20 minutes!!

I understand the same person filmed an unknown group getting off of a Chinook at Wainfleet, all very clear faces and then the tactics that the Chinook used when it departed recently

And all was well - he was apologetic and meant no harm.
He never intended to offend anyone.

I noticed the Indian Mirage jets turning-off r/w 02 at the A15 end were wearing tinted Visors down & O2 masks as I suggested in post 2 above....Simples!
Pretty sure Aircrew couldn't be identified by their friendly waving?

Re: Streaming at Waddington.
It's not just the pilots - it's the ground crew that had more of an issue - they don't wear masks or visors.
Re: Streaming at Waddington.
At the media day yesterday, the media weren’t allowed within 100 metres of the Finnish Hornets who had declined access as they had increased their sdcurity. The RAF media team explained this was a direct result of the complaints from the Finnish over the streaming and the close ups of ground crews.
Re: Streaming at Waddington.
That's a shame.
Finland are attempting to join NATO and they are Russia's neighbours so you can understand.
Maybe they shouldn't have parked them in full view of everyone.

Maybe they shouldn't expect to have their privacy invaded whilst just trying to do their job.
