I don't think the Germans are playing this year.

Latest suggestions/rumours are:

- Waddington to get CF-188s plus some AEW assets (E550/NATO E3?) also rumours of Gripens from Hungary.
- Mildenhall to get F-16s from Spangdahlem
- Lakenheath to got Norweigan F35s

Have had it on fairly good authority that the September CW in any given year is a little more exclusive than the March version.

CF188s and Gripens sounds very nice.

What do you mean by exclusive, Reaper? Just fewer participants?

The way it was said to me was that it's more an invite only kind of thing - IE no Non - NATO members (and maybe no first time players) and that March is more a Mark 1 version, with September being a Mark 2 version, which ties in with the night flying and the rumoured participants so far.

It’s exclusive in the same way as the January Red Flag, on which Australia and the UK are always the only two foreign participants.

NATO E3 should be joining in, Italians believed to have cancelled, unsure if that's just Typhoons of the E550 as well.

With Cobra Warrior 23-2 arrivals due end of this month, you might want to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/660782812483339 for the most up to date info. It's not looking as busy as March was, but should still be good.

There are also rumors of another exercise at Waddington towards the end of the year that will bring possible 'exotics' in addition to the Rafales that have been mentioned before....... 👀👀

17 bit of a strange number? You’d thought 16 or 18 wouldve been the logical number? Also wonder if the HH60s will pass through Lakenheath en route to and from Leeming?

17 must be for the formation flypast upon arrival. Perhaps a solid arrowhead with double tail. Said in the spirit of speculation true to this thread!

Are we sure it's F-16CJs as according to PlaneBase the only Air Arm with F-16CJs is Singapore, wishful thinking?

F-16CJ is a designation occasionally seen when referring to F-16Cs with full SEAD "Wild Weasel" capability in the form of the aircraft's avionics suite. How official the designation is I'm not too sure.

Given the 480th FS at Spangdahlem are USAFE's SEAD specialist unit I think you can draw conclusions on where these F-16s are coming from
